While you UK folk are thinking about bed on Christmas eve or are quietly snoozing, down here the time is 8:30 am and it's

CHRISTMAS DAY!

Kids all over the nation are eagerly unwrapping presents, then waking mum and dad. My 30 year old daughter has already been to her boy friends family 06:00 present opening.

We have a fairly quiet Christmas day with a boisterous evening planned. Today I have to put the final coat of vanish on a Christmas present or two ready for the Boxing day Christmas with the other side of the family. Then we are off to a family evening gathering of 30 to 40 people at a farm house (modern mansion in N.Z terms). Expecting 28-30 degrees C day. A BBQ dinner with some lovely slow cooked meat is on order. Drinks and ordure’s on the lawn overlooking the farm.

It has not been all plan sailing. My first batch of wooden hand made presents came out great. Then I painted them. Discovered that I can't paint to save myself, so they went into the bin and had to make a new set. This time they are being varnished and its going well. Our Raspberry canes have not produced enough fruit, so I spent an hour or so on the 23rd Dec at the local Berry fruit farm doing some “pick your own” Raspberries and Strawberries. A couple of hours later, I had 2 kg of each. Enough for the parties over the next couple of days and some for ourselves.

New Zealand is at Covid Level 1, which means we have no restrictions. Our last community transmission of Covid 19 was on 21st November. We are still getting 6 to 10 cases each day in international managed isolation. Read 5-star hotels repurposed. Not the Gestapo camps that some international uninformed politicians claim we use. You can even have 1 x 6-pack of beer or a bottle of wine per person per day. So, between, sleeping in late, good food, unlimited TV, Booze and as much sex as your travel partner allows, life in Isolation for 14 days is not too bad.

We are all using the Govt contact tracing app on our smart phones to log into every place we go, ready for when we get the next case of community transmission. Shut it down quick smart by isolating all who have likely been exposed.

Our freedom in the Covid world is a vastly different world to that of you UK folk. I feel for you all. Having a fast transmission mutation and now the South African faster transmission mutation has hit your shores makes for a very uncertain world. Lock downs on Christmas day for many folks. Restricted numbers at gathering. Life must be a worry and now BREXIT is upon you. France/Europe closing it boarders to you due to Covid. Uncertain times indeed.

Stay safe, stay well and hit the social media/messaging apps hard to join with family and friends on this very special Christmas day. It’s a different world, so you have to do things differently and get on with life.

Have the best Merry Christmas you can.

Regards

Murray

Cheers Murray, here's wishing you and yours the best Christmas and New Year celebrations. Hopefully we might, I said might, be back to something similar this time next year. IF we can educate the Morons amongst us to behave and respect other people.

Tony.

Hope you enjoyed your Christmas day festivities Murray. Hope to see you again sometime
