My brother owns a very nice Mercedes A class. Recently it was time for its service at the main dealers. It was a bit of a surprise to him to find due to Covid19, £60 was added to the bill to disinfect the car, prior to their technician working on it and again before they returned the car to him.
 
Thats appalling. That wants checking out, not sure its legal that,being pushed onto the customer and given no choice. o_O
 
Charge them £65 for doing the same when it's returned.
 
I bet if scrutinised it's in their current Ts&Cs in very small print
 
If that were me, I’d rather have my car disinfected and be free of the virus than not. Obviously, the time is a cost.
 
How do you know its been done though????????


That is just a rip off. They should be doing it free as a matter of course.


whats next, supermarkets charging to clean the trolleys????
 
I'm guessing that a lot of companies will try and pass the costs on to the customer, some a little less blatant than Mercedes.
 
I doubt it's really necessary in any case. How many of you who took cars for MOT (When you didn't need to) had their car cleaned or disinfected?

Taking my motorbike into bike to Honda for a service in a couple of weeks, that'll be interesting then :wideyed:

The guy who MOT'd both mine to be fair, wiped down with disinfectant wipes before and after, couldn't fault him, didn't charge me any extra though ;)
 
Shame we still don't pay by check, take car home stop the check re-negotiate. Don't think we can stop payment by card, may be ask bill to be sent if you have account as new card is in the post. Think if they get away with this the rest will follow. ( @Lee take note cos your loosing out big time.=)) )

I would ask what "disinfecting the car" actually means and for details of the process. Must be more than cabin touch points, which would take minutes. Under bonnet also?
Suggest your brother finds a decent indy.:)
