Hi all,
Are there any insurance experts out there?
Having nothing better to do over breakfast this morning I actually read the small print of my Markerstudy policy.
I was rather taken aback at a clause refering to the daily driver car, the posession of which is a stipulation of Classic Car insurance. Please see the pic, clause S04, second paragraph (iii). It states that the daily driver car should not have an annual mileage limitation.
It's a fair bet that we all have some form of mileage limitation. When applying for insurance we state an expected mileage for the year whether it be 1000 or 100000 miles per year and this forms part of the basis for the calculation of price. How then can they expect our daily cars not to have a mileage limitation? Surely we all are not contravening the terms of our insurance?
If I could respectfully ask for replies from members past or present of the Insurance Industry rather than opinion.
Thanks,
Chris

Good observation! Our main family car has a mileage limitation as its my works van I use daily.

Decided to stick my head in the lion's mouth and ring them. I managed to get put through to the underwriters dept. and I spoke to a very knowledgeable person who reassured me that a normal daily driver policy looks for a "ball park" figure of mileage upon which to base a quotation. This is not an agreed mileage policy. The wording of the Markerstudy policy refers to another stated mileage policy such as the one that the policy refers to. So....the panic's

Thought as much but seeing as you wanted someone who knew what they were talking about, felt it was better to keep quiet.

Thanks for the update.

Thanks but I did get my definitive answer. In the case of an accident they use any old excuse to reject a claim and my insurance cat is on his 9th life. :(
