What the ZRoadster recommendation for lubricating the manual roof mechanism? Looking to try and free my up so that it takes less brute strength to open and close

I don't know what the recommendations are but i'd have thought a spray of lithium grease on the joints should free it up nicely.

Perfect. Click and collect ordered for a pick up later

I think there is a helper ram for the manual roofs fitted, saw a thread somewhere on here about it.

'helper ram'??

Helper arm? Any ideas where?

Yeah, I think there's a hydraulic damper, similar to the ones you have on the boot

When they fail they can make operation harder rather than easier. Try removing them altogether and compare.

Tony.

There was a post on here recently about it with a diagram from REALOEM showing the location, I think it's like the auto roof- ram behind the passenger seat in RHD cars. Have a look on REALOEM

The gas strut, if you have one, early cars did not, will be visible when you drop the roof on the left hand side behind the passenger seat. If that is the problem, bin it, you don't need it.
It was only added later after old ladies started complaining about the weight of the roof in the USA.
