Still under installation the new crane in Pompey dockyard. Work has been interrupted due the current Coronavirus situation and the team of Dutch engineers have gone home for the time being.
When they return they will fit the cantelever section on to the righthand side of the structure so that the crane can service the next dry dock as well as the one it straddles.

Access to the crane cab will be by an electric lift if we don't fancy the 63mtr climb up the ladder.

Is that on one of the locks or actual dry docks where BAE are @Jack Ratt .. love to see one of the idiots put the carrier through that..

The new carrier's can't access this basin. Just to the left of where I'm parked and out of shot, HMS Dilligence is laid up, probably waiting to be scrapped just as HMS Illustrious was which was berthed there before HMS Dilligence laid up

Yes Paul, the crane straddles 14 dock and the cantilever will service 15 dock.

Thanks Jack. From an old Pompey Boy. I can still remember the dockyard. Navy days when we had a Navy for one. That area was always referred too as scrap yard basin

just before then went to the jetties over near the timber ponds and then out to be scrapped or sold.
