I was at work today and a family of 7 came into the shop where I work 🌞
I thought perhaps they were on holiday 🌞
I was putting their shopping through the scanner and the mum and dad went off to get something else from the shop
I said to the older children, are you down here for a holiday, they said ’ no ‘😲
Then one of the girls said a boy in our class has ‘Covid ‘ so we’re home from school isolating, then the other girl said and his sister is in my class with ‘ Covid ‘ , I couldn’t believe what I was hearing 😟
I was so angry , I wanted to shout at them , get out of the shop and go home and stay their 😳
What idiots 😖😖

I feel for you. Early in the pandemic, I realised the health safety of the general public rests in the common sense of the general public. This means that we are in so much trouble as while there is a lot of sense out there, the common variety is not so common.

Never a truer word Murray.:(

I think that’s a big reason why we have had so many cases, hospitalisations and deaths in the U.K. People like to blame others, usually the government. They should start looking at themselves. Way too much liberty and people exercising their rights in the U.K. not to mention ignorance/lack of common sense.

Absolutely correct Rob but no politician would dare say so, ie Cummings and Hancock.

Tony.

Once this pandemic is over, I wonder what life will be like with the knowledge that there are so many reckless idiots out there

I think it has just proven what we already knew to be honest.

Tony.

I’ve got underlined health issues and a very low immune system 🌞
If I really wanted to I could give up work and claim from the government 😲
But I choose not too 🙂
But people like this make me so mad 😖

This has been the case since the start of the pandemic and all through the lockdowns. There's too many people who just don't give a damn and all we can do really is to look out for ourselves. Hope you're ok @Shelly

Alan said to me , how many other people have I served without knowing they are meant to be isolating 😲
Perhaps it’s just people like me /us who are taking this seriously 🙂

I said to my kids right at the start of all this, we will give ourselves the best chance of navigating safely through if we apply some care, a bit of intelligence and common sense to things. I'm the one you see acting like a ninja peering around the end of supermarket aisles to make sure no one is coming, jumping out of the way of those who get too close (and giving them a scowl) and doing stuff like wiping the screen at the parcel lockers before touching it. I can honestly say across Swindon & Swansea I can count on one hand the number of other people I see doing these things which don't seem like a lot of effort to me. I've found supermarkets to be a microcosm of all things stupid. It's like people get through the door and all sense falls away because finding the baked beans is more important.

You have my sympathies @Shelly . My other half also has an auto immune condition causing low immune levels. And although you'll both be double-jabbed we know the vaccination is sadly not as effective for you. I just dread Jul 19 when the masks become voluntary - what are you thinking Boris? People in this country are far too arrogant and stupid to sort it out at their discretion. The thing is by then the people with masks are probably not the ones to worry about anyway as they will be voluntarily wearing them so they are the more sensible ones. I think I'll be avoiding non mask wearers like the plague - as I do now. And yes, generalising here as I know some people can't wear masks.

I’ll be keeping my mask on and staying away from non mask people 🌞
I can’t go into hospital again this year, twice in 6 months is enough , 😲

One of government's roles, amongst others, is to protect the weak and vulnerable. That is why we have laws. If common sense worked, we wouldn't need any laws at all.

It seems that government are now kicking this responsibility of duty of care into the long grass. There are some groups who, for no cause of their own, remain susceptible and at risk. Government response to concerns here (on masks), along with their completely inadequate response to behaviour by a small minority around last nights football (anti-social behaviour, criminal activities and racist taunts) shows that they simply don't care about anyone at a human level. It is a free for all - only the strong survive. There is no comeback on their actions.

Changing mask wearing from mandatory to choice is actually only about Image and ability to keep arguably risk or even 'dangerous' promises rather than keeping us all safe (especially the more at risk) from those who simply don't give a damn and see no sanction against their abhorrent or socially unacceptable behaviour.

Yes - we do have to move forward, but are significant groups now potentially being sacrificed on the alter of 'herd immunity'?

We need a managed exit from this pandemic, not an unmanaged one. Today, they are telling us to expect another huge surge of infections and also an increase in hospitalisations and fatalities - but not attaching any numbers to their expectations. By failing to do so, they can and will always deny that they have failed if it all turns sour.

The unintended consequence is likely to be other countries that everyone is hoping to get in holiday to, will simply look at the surge in the UK and say - we're closed to the UK. Own goal.

A great chunk of society will again have to report to 'hiding' or at least continuing using the level of protections we have used for 12 months.

The reality is that mask wearing is a fiducial act. Based upon trust so it protects both parties mutually. The standard medical masks actually do not protect the wearer as much as those around them. You need FFP2 or better FFP3 masks to protect yourself. I suggest you visit Toolstation or Screwfix....!

No mention of the economy from Boris and probably the main reason they’re prepared to accept 100-200 deaths a day (in the next wave) smacks of collateral damage. Suppose it had to come at some point. Alarming to say the least.
Police rep on news reackons they had enough men to cover the match last night, funny how much damage was done though if that was the case. They must think we’re all friggin stupid. I despair.

Seeing so-called England “fans” fighting amongst them selves makes me despair, would’ve been better if they’d had their masks on though eh? Stampeding fans could have caused another Hillsborough.

Shelly them poor children will be growing up totally ignorant of what common sense means as they’ll take their cue from their parents example, and so the problem grows and grows.

Darwin rules take over hopefully. They may breed but won’t survive.
