The m54 3.0 intake manifold retains the disa valve and the intake cam for the 3.0 fits the 2.8TU also. It provides a useful bump in power without sacrificing all of the low end torque that the m50 manifold does.
This combination gets the 2.8 up to the same hp per litre as the 3.0 which is about 75 at tye crank. Stock the 2.8TU is about 69 hp p litre. So it's a useful bump in Hp of about 16 which should put you at about 210 on the crank. Retaining the disa to help with low end torque and really opening up the top end greatly. Stock TU tends to run out of steam at around 5.8k rpm. The above combination pulls ard until about 7k.
If i want to have an engine that revs well to 7k rpm blank of the vanos use the m50 manifold a schrick camshaft or similar (exhaust) under drive pulleys and the 6 speed box plus 3.64:1 diff. The chnage in diff would sort the loss of low end torque but the cost is enough I would need to save for a fair bit.
