A couple of members have expressed an interest in getting one of my "M" style gearshift surrounds for their non M Z3's.... I really don't want to make these if I only have two people interested. The amount of work required to get them done is hugely time and effort consuming, so I'm logging this post to see if any other people will want one. If I can get six or more buyers, then I'll go ahead and make them up again. They will cost £ 55.00 including postage. They will be chrome plated ( the pic I have posted shows the item, but in an un-chromed state).

Please PM me if you want to order one. Due to the effort of making these, I will want a 50% payment up front to ensure commitment. Production time is around 3 to 4 weeks, mainly because the chrome plating of aluminium is complicated and the guys that do it here generally quote me two weeks to do them.

Must it be chrome plated or can it be left as bare aluminum and give it a polish from time to time?

I'm guessing it's only the ring you get for your money as I want to keep my brushed aluminium console and the bare aluminium would suit me better.

If you want it plain aluminium, that's fine with me. I'll just finish it as plain polished ally.

Polishing it as a plain aluminium part is possible and gives a really great result. However, since it is aluminium, it will be prone to scuffing and even scratching if it isn't carefully avoided. By chrome plating it, that aspect isn't an issue.

Hi Andy
I'm still waiting on the little screws from the UK. I've ordered twice now - the first order has never arrived, so I ordered again about 3 weeks ago - still waiting for them. In the meanwhile, I,ve been doing all the other work I can on the parts. I have to have the screws though to lock the upper and lower sections together before doing the shaping. Added to the screw issue, the laser cutting guys stuffed up the first order, and then had to re-cut the parts for me. That has lost me about 10 days. Anyhow, I am hoping the screws will be here shortly and I can then get the shaping, smoothing, polishing done before sending everything to the chrome plating guys. Sorry for the "extended" delays, but doing everything I can to get them out asap.
Shaping / polishing will take about a week to all 8 surrounds, then the chrome guys take about a week, and hopefully they get it right first time. So, at this stage, if the screws were here now, it would still take about 2 weeks to get them completed.
Now you know why I wasn't keen to do them in the first instance - too many other hands influence the actual production time...
