Those crumple zones sure do crumple - which is exactly what they’re designed to do. There’s a hell of a lot of unsung design & engineering work behind this driver’s luck! (Says the engineer in me. The rest of me just says ‘flipping eck !!!!)

Sean D would have that back on the road in no time.
I’ve seen a lot of written off Z3s as I keep my eyes open for useful salvage. Okay that would be a Cat A and you rarely see them as they go straight to the crusher. But that’s comfortably the most smashed Z3 I’ve seen. Despite being an older car the crumple zones still work very well. It’s no coincidence the damage stops at both bulkheads. And good example of how the screen frame forms part of the protection as it has only party collapsed.
