Low Mileage?

It appears to me that we all search for the lowest mileage car that we can find?
However it is my opinion that mechanical things such as cars do need to be used fairly regularly and if they are not major problems can occur. Of course the opposite also can apply, very high mileage cars will suffer from worn parts and cost a lot to replace!

I have seen Z3M cars that are twenty years old or more only having ten or twenty thousand miles and huge sums of money are being asked for them! Given that it is said that an average mileage per annum is about ten thousand miles surely a car with let’s say 70-80k and twenty years old is less than half the average miles?

So what does this panel think if you were looking for a nice Z3M?
Would you go for the lowest mileage car you can find or an average mile car or a very very low mileage car which has been hardly used?

I'd go for a car, any car with a few miles on it personally. Provided it's been serviced properly I see no issue. Low mileage car prices are over hyped, in my view. Garage queens and not worth the money.

It all depends how they have been looked after. Mine has done 76k in 21years which is not a lot. But they can do three or four times that if well looked after. I recently had use of a new transit that did less than 2000 a year and it was nothing but trouble largely due to low use causing the carbon filter to clog up. It would give you time to arrange a garage appointment but if you carried on driving it it would shutdown.
We become obsessed with milage but it's the condition that counts. Just by using the free mot history apps it easy to see how loved a car has been.

I would buy on condition & history not mileage
