I have to admit I am lazy about washing my cars, but I gave the Zed a clean today, doing the wheels with a toothbrush. I'm pleased to see it looking good despite being 17 years old. The Estoril Blue finish is holding up well, although it needs some new badges on the wheels and bonnet. Where's a good place to get decent ones? Are BMW ones frightfully expensive?

By the way, the paint under the bonnet is different, a flatter, non-metallic simple blue. Any idea what it might be and whether a touch up can be obtained?

Last question. What is the square shaped pipe immediately behind the grille for? It needs repainting.

There are plenty of badges on the 'bay, just make sure of the sizes, they are as cheap as.
I'm watching this thread with interest, I want to know about the internal paint as well !

Paint in the engine bay is the same as the main car colour but without the lacquer top coat.

The pipe you are referring to is the power steering coolant pipe.

Mine says Topaz Blue Metallic in large letters and small underneath is Topaz Blue so no metallic or laquer.

The label is on the suspension tower

I have to agree with Black Fingernail. The under bonnet paint appears a lighter shade than the Estoril Blue. I'll check my label tomorrow as well.
Thanks for identifying the square pipe. I've always wondered what it was.

Some of the colours don't have the same non metallic colour. The silver cars have a white underbonnet i think.

Ok, the label under my bonnet says Estoril Blue Metallic, then underneath Fueller Estorilblau. According to Google translate Fueller means Ink Pen. I guess the meaning, as some of you have said, is plain Estoril Blue paint. I wonder if you can buy a touch up for it?

EDIT: a different translator (Yandex) says it means Filler, DeepL also makes it Filler, so again it must mean the basic paint, non-metallic, non-pearlescent.

Interesting, my Topaz Blue has black/swartz undercoat. I wonder why the difference....
