Looking Forward To Next Summer

If however it happened in Chelsea or Chiswick, problems would soon be solved.

You bet it bloody well would be.
Snippet of info here, not many people know this....Amsterdam airport Schiphol is 6 Mtrs below sea level and it was once a sea, the name Schiphol, translated, means 'Ship Hole' after all the sunken ships there after the Dutch-Spanish wars.

I've lived with a few hundred yards of the river Trent all my life Ian and when we were little when the Trent rose we were spread out amongst the rellies who had 2 storey homes. Eventually the flood banks on our side of the river were built so high that it would be unlikely that the river would come over the banks at our side. The other side is a flood plain, so yes it works, there can't be much of a flood pain in Twickenham I would think so they have to move the water down stream very quickly and as the level rises the water picks up speed and power.

As you can see this is 3 years ago less than 1/4 mile from our house only just behind the White Swan where we had a meet last September. But we were never worried. At 1min 42 sec you can see the back of the White Swan pub.

Best guestimate so far up here is £250 million.
It'll be a great deal more than that when all the costs are in sadly.
On an individual level, heartbreak at loosing homes and property, some of which is irreplaceable, sometimes not for the first time.
I hope those involved get dealt with fairly and with compassion.

It shows that it doesn't matter what you do, water will always find its own level. Better it be like this than a raging torrent through your street.

I however love the wintertime!

A nice dry day to take the M out!
I understand that a thread can go off topic, but this is the first time I've ever see one hi-jacked. Apparently, some one posted this:

and placed @M666BMG 's name and avatar on it. I don't think this site is safe anymore!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely not written by Mark!! Frankie

It's old Hardtop posting the obscene father Xmas.

I think he dresses up and pops round the streets doing that!

Just goes to show - It's always darkest just before dawn. Now we got all the aweful weather out the way we can get back on track.
So, who's fitting a snorkel to their car before they venture out next summer?

I love the summer :p
Lovely and hot the hotter the better ;)
I don't do cold :)
I have been know to take a hot water bottle out under my coat if it's too cold =))

Well we are in Sutton Near Ely today, been walking around in my shirt sleeves, it's so warm. Guy came by and said his rhubarb is growing and there has been reports of Daffodils coming into flower in suffolk. Summer can't be so far away??? :hohoho:
