Hi there everyone. Looking to see if you can assist me with this issue.

My Zed is a project and as such can sit for a week or so. When I go to start it, it can sometimes start first time. If not it needs a jump but always starts. I have noticed that on the odd occasion when I turn the key I get the rapid clicking and the dash lights flicker so I jump start it and it's fine.

I have had an alternator and battery test done and it appears the alternator is working and the battery is just on its way out so I'm planning to change it soon.

The issue I need help with is that the DSC and ABS lights come on occasionally and then go off again after a while before coming back on a few weeks later. Doesn't appear to be any obvious trigger.

Can the battery being poor cause these lights to come on and off?

Hope someone has experienced this before!

Thanks in advance

The battery can trigger alsorts of electrical gremlins in a zed as the system misreads as the voltage is wrong so a new battery is a good start.
Make sure the boot light isn't staying on ..easiest way is to put you mobile on video record place it in the boot and shut it to see if its going out, if it is the drain may just be the alarm and a duff battery.
The abs lights can be a fault in alsorts of places a code read is the important bit to see if you get a pin point. The system does reset itself after a while hence light going out.
A code reader isn't expensive to buy cheaper than going to a garage and you have it then. The abs module on the z3 is prone to failure but the codes will answer this

Thank you for your advice. It's appreciated. I have got a code reader although it is basic. I guess if I don't get any codes the battery may be the cause of the lights then?

Also...if the boot light is staying on, how would I resolve that?

Yeah it could well be the sensors go abit haywire sometimes as the voltage is low. A basic reader will hopefully read your abs system .I it does clear all codes and wait to see what returns.

The boot light i believe is mercury switched in the lid / latch to remove fault you could just temp pull the bulb it can only really be switch.

Thanks again for your advice. New battery it is!!!
