Sorry - I misunderstood your original question. I thought you meant bolt on hub adapters. Thanks for the comprehensive response.
Aye, I'm not sure what they're called officially, but I know them as bolt through, which use longer bolts:

And the other type which bolt to the hub, then you bolt your wheels to the spacer itself:

Nothing new on the Palmetto 2.8 to report as it's too cold to work on anything, but I have news....

Must be something about looking at Z's in the snow, but I bought another one today!

It's a slightly tatty black on black '99 2.0 that I'm going to sort and move on in the spring for a bit of fun over the next few months.

DSC_1277.JPG
 Yes, a new bonnet roundel top of the list of parts to order!

I'll start a separate thread on this one when the time comes to get to work, but i've yet to decide what I want from the project.
I could just put it right, or take it a bit further and get it A+ or, ever since I drove a 2.0 last year (and was rather underwhelmed) I've wondered about how to make it go quicker and I've come up with a few ideas, but it'd blow the budget and probably kill any possible return.
Who knows, it'll be fun to see where this takes me....

Ah, the job list...

I spent a bit of time today putting that together, but before I get started working on it I need to get the new roll hoops and the original 17's refitted on the green one, then ship it out to my dad's house to clear some garage workspace!
Hopefully get that sorted this weekend.

Well, the weather was nice so I finally made a start on the Roll Hoop retro fit.

First up was to get the car out of the garage as I'ts a bit too cramped to do anything in there just now...DSC_1487.jpg DSC_1489.jpg
This is the first time I've been able to get a look at the 261's on the rear.
DSC_1490.jpg DSC_1491.jpg DSC_1492.jpg

I like them. A great 'accidental' purchase. Just need to order some new spacers, but still unsure of what i need... it'll be somewhere between 20-35mm, and with the new ST coilovers, I would need to push the fronts out 3 or 5mm further than before so, 30mm currently looking like the most likely...

Anyway, time to get going... roof down, seats forward...

DSC_1493.jpg DSC_1494.jpg

Start removing these hateful screw covers....
DSC_1495.jpg

Pop the rear switch panel to access the lower screws... (although I've now realised I maybe didn't need to do this part, will explain later...)

DSC_1496.jpg
Removing lots of screws from the black storage box...
DSC_1497.jpg

Doh, forgot to undo the three rear screws before putting the roof down...
DSC_1499.jpg
More of these things...grrr
DSC_1500.jpg
Undo the lid...
DSC_1501.jpg
And pull it away...
DSC_1502.jpg

Lift this out...
DSC_1504.jpg
Stare at this....
DSC_1505.jpg
Now for the side bits (although again, I maybe didn't need to do this bit..)
DSC_1506.jpg

You can just see those two lower screws...
DSC_1507.jpg
You need three hands here, but you need to spread the sides of the rear console and pull it up an inch or so...
At the same time, pull the center box out ....

Ah, with the upload limit, some of these photos are out of order, but should be clear enough what's going on...

Rear screws removed (should have been the first step...)

DSC_1510.jpg

Now with the old and new center box on the floor beside each other, I've just realised they're exactly the same! The only difference is the lid bracket which is easily swapped over...

I had intended to swap the front storage box over (so that my key would still work) but it would probably make more sense if you were doing this mod in the future not to waste your time removing the box...

DSC_1512.jpg DSC_1513.jpg DSC_1514.jpg

Anyway, next step is to remove the turret covers, although again, I now wonder if that's really necessary. You'll see later that you need need access to the Hoop securing screws, but two well drilled holes would give you all the access you need.... Anyway, I have the proper parts so we continue...
DSC_1515.jpg

Screws out...
DSC_1516.jpg

Undo the seatbelt from the seat and thread it back through.... and it's out...
DSC_1517.jpg

See, side by side, that access panel (left) and the alternative wind deflector (right) is the only difference. If you don't have the right part a few holes in your current parts would do rightly...
DSC_1518.jpg
Next, to remove the wind deflector mounts...
DSC_1519.jpg
Ehh, I've just realised there's one screw missing from the deflector mounts, and what's this from???
Having now just checked the history, this was a dealer fitted option, not factory and this has probably been rattling about for the past 20 years...
Just thinking further, have we just found the source of the 'suspension' tapping noise??
DSC_1520.jpg
Anyways, slide the mounts out...
DSC_1521.jpg
And that's the strip out complete...
DSC_1522.jpg
DSC_1524.jpg

It's starting to get cold and dark, so i'll pick this up next time, when i get round to fitting the new bits...

Now i've both boxes back in the house, I can swap either the center storage box, or the lid brackets...

DSC_1531.jpg

Both look to be in great condition, but ones original to the car with some manufactured date labels, and the others from someone elses, probably scraped, so I'm choosing to swap the brackets...

More later....

Well, swapping the brackets took about 2 mins...

On the wide box (non-hoops) the brackets are secured by two screws via the access holes in the rear, and on the hoop version, the brackets are secured via the tanneau cover pins and just fall out.

Remove, swap and reverse....done.

DSC_1532.jpg DSC_1533.jpg DSC_1534.jpg DSC_1535.jpg

I'll hopefully get a bit of time tomorrow to finish this job and get the car out of my garage, clearing some space to get started on the other Z.

Right, so I really wasn't feeling well today (man-flu) :grumpy: so, as you do, worked outside in the cold on the car instead...

Everything was going great until....

First up, I had to remove these brackets...
DSC_1595.jpg

It was dirty, and well, nobody will ever see it, so I cleaned it spotless...
DSC_1597.jpg

Slide in the first bracket...
DSC_1598.jpg

Tight squesse to get at these bolts, but...
DSC_1599.jpg

DSC_1605.jpg

Not when you have this....
DSC_1606.jpg DSC_1609.jpg

Brackets in...
DSC_1610.jpg

Turret tops on...
DSC_1611.jpg

Time for the box (our original)
DSC_1617.jpg
And slide in the hoop version lid brackets...
DSC_1618.jpg

Bolt them up...
DSC_1619.jpg

Time for the tray...
DSC_1620.jpg

That's alot of screws... I wonder how many will be left over???
DSC_1621.jpg

DSC_1622.jpg DSC_1626.jpg
Nearly there....
DSC_1628.jpg

Time for the hoops???
DSC_1629.jpg

Wtf, what's wrong with this picture?
DSC_1633.JPG

Sanity check.... this is what I had bought off ebay.

Here's the ad...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322924304997

Have messaged the seller to see if a genuine mistake...
As you can clearly see, one of the hoops is date marked July '00 so not likely to have come from the '98 car advertised....
The other is indeed '98 and was definitely the one on the left of the ad photo (it still had the dirty mark and sticker from the photo...)

Yup, absolutely. Just waiting on a 10mm spacer to arrive so I can fit the fronts... (doesn't clear the coilovers without...)
Have also ordered a 30mm rear spacer, but not sure if that's going to be right long term...

Looking forward to the spring and getting this car out and about...

He didn't mention postage although was claiming that eBay had already taken the money from his account for a refund which seemed odd and I didn't think would be the case...

Anyway, sounds like a genuine mistake so won't worry about a few quid postage if he isn't willing to cover it. Just glad to be getting the right part...
