Look what I found !!

so at work today I had to be in the office, I rarely go there as I’m usually site based. A conversation in the office was about an old smart car that has sat part stripped out the back and taking up valuable parking space. I nipped out to take a look and walked around the back of the smart car and found this an e53 3.0 petrol engine still in its subframe.

I doubt that because it's still in it's subframe Mike. Someone has taken the trouble to remove it from a vehicle and wouldn't have bothered if it was no good. Those 3.0 litre motors are very strong too.

Get it home, remove the plugs and put some oil down the bores, and see if it turns with a spanner.

Some good parts there, maybe for free, even if the motor is no good. Money to be made?

It's totally complete and externally looks good and dry from leaks. A complete 3.0 inlet manifold starter motor it all there, said to my boss about it and he said take it home like I could just pick it up there and then !! It's not his either. It looks like it's been there a while but was unbolted not torched out a car. Next week I will see if I can find out who owns it.

Actually just in the cafe with my boss and I ask whose it is he says they have put a notice on the smart car that they will get it scrapped and that includes the engine so if I want it take it.
