Alpina Roadster S
Hi All

Just joined the forum after a number of years procrastinating - clicked on a number of links through google and other shortcuts, and met a few members through Z4-forum and meets, so thought its about time I joined. I'm also active on the Alpina forum with the same username.

I bought my roadster, an Alpina Roadster S #108, in October 2009 from Sytner Nottingham after test driving a number of cars (TVR, Porsche Boxster, Porsche Cayman, Z4M...). I found the car totally by accident as I'd popped into Sytners to look at a Z4M they had on show. However, once I saw the Alpina, and after a test drive, I was smitten. A short conversation later, deposit was made, and arrangements made for a pickup the following week.

The following week, my son and I took the train to Nottingham where we were picked up by Sytners and bought to the showroom. Once paperwork was completed and funds deposited, my son and I drove away very happy, roof down, in the late October sunshine.

After a few months of ownership, I embarked on a mission of changing to my taste - whilst I love a lot of the styling of the Z4 and the Alpina enhancements, I am not a fan of a lot of blingy chrome, and did not like the ginger indicators.

Mods so far are:
  • Headlights split, indicators replaced with clear hockey sticks and angel eyes
  • Side indicators replaced with clears (originals boxed and stored)
  • Rear light clusters replaced with four spot clears (originals boxed and stored)
  • Wheels replaced with Bayern Spartans 19" in matt black (Alpina Dynamics boxed and stored away)
  • Front kidneys replaced with matt black grills ( originals stored away)
  • Short "stubby" aerial (original stored away)
  • Partially de-badged, and current set painted black (originals stored away)
  • Steering wheel refurbished by Royal Steering Wheels and made fatter
  • MFSW controls de-chromed (now painted black)
Also added a SpecDock ashtray, intravee and dashcam. Next steps are to replace the suspension components as the existing setup is showing its age and add the additional speakers (already bought but not installed) and door sound-deadening.

Welcome @markeg, recognise your name and car from the other site. Great to have you sign up with us - cracking first post too!

I always said if I went back to a Z4 again I'd buy an Alpina, but had to plump for a 3.0Si instead.

Ohhhhh very nice! Hi and Welcome. I fell in love with a black Alpina a few weeks ago but me and the bank manager couldn't agree on my aspirational needs.:( =))
