Littlefeller

Nope, seems like he has left the building ....

No recent activity information is available for littlefeller.

Just messaged a pal on .net to see if he is still going on there.

Just got a message back. He rarely goes in .net so doesn't know if he's still on there or not.
Let's not make a witch hunt out of it, as long as he doesn't owe people any money it's not the end of the world. People can always get a set of guide repairs from @Southernboy if they are still requiring a set.

Not sure why this simple enquiry has gone the route it has, just wondered if he was o.k being normally there to join in the banter. Same with windym but at least we know through Gaz he's o.k

Last time he was one here he did say that he had been very busy with his work and a lot in the pipeline as far as I recall.

Tony.

Excellent Grumps, can't lose a member of the gang. Will check in tomorrow a.m.

So, why you dislike my post re Littlefeller Adrian?

Tony.

Hi folks, been awhile.

The most bizarre events have happened to me and Sally.

I have contemplated posting this for a few days now on the basis that others may come across similar problems.

The idea that I would be posting personal circumstances on a public forum has delayed this post but due to a message I received earlier today from another member enquiring if I was ok has given me a kick up the jacksie.

Another reason im posting this is to highlight some issues with very common medication, now im not saying dont take these just be alert.

Sorry this will be a bit of a longish post.

It all started around the end of the summer with Sally complaining of muscle aches.

This persisted, didnt get worse just there in the background, we just put it down to work and getting older.

Then in November it started to get worse, she started to struggle while walking any distance, so a visit to the doctors was in order.

He said she had a bit of a chest rattle and gave her some antibiotics, but the muscle problem persisted and steadily got worse.

At this point the doctor was at a loss and sent some blood samples off (we are now entering into October)

Her walking became more and more difficult until one day she could get up the stairs without my help.

Blood results came back they shown an abnormally high ck count (should be around 50-60, hers was over 9000) it also showed very high protein levels.

Doctor still stumped as to what was going on.

October 10th, Sally wakes up and found she had lost the use of her left arm, now this is getting seriously worrying.

At this point the doctor sends her into Redditch Hospital for tests.

Now a little more history is needed at this point, about 2 years ago she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, also at this time as a matter of cause the doc prescribed cholesterol tablets

whilst in Redditch hospital the consultants decided to withdraw the statin based cholesterol tablets saying that muscle aches are a side effect, they put her on a drip for 4 days then sent her home saying her ck levels were falling.

But while home she just got worse, im now getting very very worried.

After 3 days she was back in hospital as now it was getting very painful, so it was back on the drip to flush her out, by this time she couldn't walk.

Another 4 days and again discharged.

So the cycle continued, we are now around 20th October and once again the doc sends her back to Redditch for a second opinion as the levels are just not dropping,

it has reached the point where she cant even hold her own head up and is getting about in a wheelchair.

Buy now im starting to panic and getting very angry, this doesn't actually solve anything but im trying to find someone to blame.

A specialist turns up and examines her, then says she has muscular mysistis and its very serious.

He gives her a cause of steroids and methatrexate but this will take around 4 weeks to start to work, during this time it will only get worse.

I wont post how I felt or had to endure during this time, it was very difficult.

I have spent my time since October until a week ago between work, hospital and bed.

Yes we even had a Christmas in the hospital.

She is back home now and making amazing progress, she even walked around matilan at the weekend.

Everyday there are improvements.

So what actually happened -

the statin based cholesterol tablets had started to damage her muscles, this in turn triggered an auto-immune response which attacked her muscles.

So she basically dissolved her own muscles, she lost around 65% of her muscle mass in the space of 3 weeks.

It had been going on for a while hence the protein in her blood but escalated very quickly during her last stay in hospital.

her ck levels are back to normal and once again the futures bright.

If like most you take these tablets please dont be alarmed, this can happen to one in a few million, but be aware it can happen, if you get aches while taking statins get it checked out straight away. We were told they were safe, they are not (just google them) none of the medical staff take them, this tells you something.

But then they may save you from heart conditions and save your life.

On an upside, due to me being the only one working I had to sell my runaround and will be taxing and waking up the zed tomorrow as it resumes life as a daily drive (though I will still use sally's car for any distance driving as she wont be driving for a couple of months).

Something else came out of this, I will now be getting married at the end of this year, some say about time too (my mother)

Mate, thank you for sharing that with us. It's very good to hear Sally is now improving and you know what has been wrong. We wish you both the best and hope you get back to "normal" very soon Jason. All the very best,

Tony and Shirl.

Bloody hell mate. As I said to you earlier you don't have to share your personal issues with anybody on here, it isn't there business but I tip my hat to you, you did it for good reason and it could possibly help others in a similar situation.
Hope Sally stays well mate.

Oooh and congratulations on your wedding!!! :)

Thanks for sharing and glad Sally is on the mend and some normality is getting restored. All the best and congratulations on your up coming marriage

Good to hear from you Jason, but sorry to hear of your woes, glad things are on the mend for Sally.

Bit of a rough time for Sally and you, but thank you for sharing.
Currently battling with my Doctor who wants me to take Statins, Trying a change of Diet and Benecol. I know the side effects are rare but in my mind medication should be the last resort.

absolutely paul, im sure i read somewhere that cholesterol is used by the body to repair muscles, they say good cholesterol and there is bad cholesterol, but then it must be there for a reason.

another upside to this is after spending my time sitting by the bed in hospital i gave up smoking, one down side though is i am now addicted to KFC (theres one next door to the hospital).
