Agreed. The problem with the system today, in my view, is that people get them to early. A sports person that has been globally successful should only get one in later years once they've done lots of other good stuff.

IIRC Bob Nudd got an MBE for services to Angling and to be fair he was a multiple World Champion although he was no Spring Chicken when he got his. Lovely fella too, sat and chatted to him on the banks of the Fosse Dyke a couple of times.
