LeMans '66

Off to see this tonight. Being an owner and SF fan if Ferrari don't win this time I'm trashing the cinema.
That said I should be used it now after 15 years watching F1 and SF only winning one WDC (might have had a Constructors in that time too). Anyway I'm also going in a damn Mercedes :p

Brilliant film. Best I have seen since Gran Torino.

If it came off a plane from England then that tells you all you need to know about who designed it :)
I could be wrong but if my memory serves my right didn’t the Lola T70 GT racing car form part of the basis of the design for the GT40.
Just read through the thread again and noticed Tony mentioned the Lola connection also.

Look up Ford GT40 up on Wikipedia and it gives a load of background info, it was the Lola mk6 that was the car that the design was based on. Lola was the chosen partner not Lotus or Cooper who were the other firms considered. Fascinating reading.

Great movie -- my wife, who is NOT a car person loved it nevertheless.

My wife and I saw the this film last Saturday and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. I told my wife beforehand a bit of the background so she knew what to expect, OK there is a bit of Hollywood but it is well worth going to see.

My Fiancee too. I never told her much about the background other than basics.
Brilliant film.

I am not one for going to the cinema so I pre ordered the DVD on Amazon. Just watched it and it exceeded expectations. A great bit of change form all the current gloom and doom.

Still on Le Mans theme. Did anyone watch the Steve McQueen documentary last week on TV, not sure on channel, maybe Channel 4 or 5, very interesting. The part where David Piper, who lost part of one leg in a crash whilst making the film, found out all these years later (documentary made in 2015) that Steve McQueen has asked the producers to donate profit to David Piper was quite touching. They didn’t.
Worth looking for on catch up.
