Hi all, got a bit of scuffing on the bolster of my drivers seat so I bought some dye from Ebay in 'Oregon Beige' which is supposed to be what my leather is - it's way too light though, it matches the background of the 'spotty' leather on the seat but not the colour of the bolster....any idea what colour I should be looking for?! Thankyou

BMW DARK BEIGE SCUFFMASTER COLOUR.jpg
I went through the same issue, got a match for the slightly darker beige by sending a small thumbnail size sample cut from under the seat where its hidden from sight and sent it to Gliptone Leather Care for their Scuffmaster to be mixed to a match for my seat bolster. Same as yours Leder Oregon/beige E36 Sandbeige E3 - R5SN. I think that the darker beige is the Sandbeige.
They matched my sample spot on and it restored my bolster with a couple of applications using a cloth and dabbed on to the surface. Used their Gentle Cleaner on it before applying the colour.

Thankyou! It looks quite dark in the pic or is that a shadow?

Not the best picture, looks darker than it is, matches the other bolsters on drivers and passenger seats ok.

I've done quite a bit of leather restoration/re-colouring. And I can tell you all about Lotus White matching.

But I can only give general advice on other colour matching. Leather wears differently from car to car, owner to owner. It may also have had a patch up in the wrong shade by a previous owner.

The colour you have bought may be correct as it left the factory but is wrong for a well loved panel. Really you need to send a sample to someone like Leather Clinic (who I use). Their products are great although I have to say my experiences of their colour matching with Lotus White were not perfect but that might just be because it's a very awkward colour to work with.

Of course you won't want to send a sample off your bolster to them which complicates things. Sending photos is not really going to help. You may need to buy their kit that allows you to mix up your own exact match.

I'm also not sure how good a match/quality a colour from ebay is going to be. I'd stick to Leather Clinic or Scuffmaster.

If you PM me I can arrange to send you a small bottle of Leather Clinic Oregon Beige. Oregon btw is the leather type not colour. It's the spotty/pimply stuff you describe. But BMW beige is BMW beige whatever the leather type.

It would be sandbeige and you are correct the Oregon is the lighter of the two

Thankyou! The bottle I bought matches the centre lighter bit. Never realised the Oregon was the type not the colour! I'll p.m you

I also had to send a sample for beige very close match but the key is to ensure the sample is as close in color to the area you are going to fix as possible, I sent the sample from the bottom back of the car seat and because it does not see as much sun and contaminants as the front it was lighter which resulted in a slightly lighter paint being sent. Managed to bring it to the right tone by adding a dab of anther darker dye that I had but bear that in mind

I’ve just bought some colour matched creme and paint from Furniture Clinic. I didn’t really need it, just a very small of bolster, but it’s there for the future. Mine is Champagne Nappa and looks a good match.
