Thanks I had lasek wavefront it's not really bad but just not as good as daylight. I found when I wore contacts at night and they dried out my vision was worse then so overall better, I'm happy.

There is lasek or wavefront?, if you had wavefront thats a lot better
You say your Contacts dried up, i used to wear extended wear ones, that allowed oxygen through,
they were great, i wore lenses for 25 years, but having -12 vision, i always dreaded wearing glasses, hence laser treatment.
Contacts lenses are better for astigmatism

Good luck they will improve as time goes on :)

The lasek is the procedure as in lasering off the front of the cornea and the wavefront is where the laser takes certain points of your eye to make it more curved rather than just a striaght chop. Lasik is where they cut the cornea in half if you like and take a bit out the middle. The lady said with her experience they get better over the coming months. I thought my eyes were bad at -4 but -12 I couldnt imagine. :(

Its puts on a different meaning to being blind drunk ;) ;)

Joking aside it has sharpened my other senses over the years
As age aproaches, alas these are going :(

Footnote
Due to an over zealous Surgeon
Some time after my treatment, i was wearing
contact lenses and glass at the same time
just to get some sort of vision

I'm an angry person :ymdevil: :ymdevil: :ymdevil: :ymdevil:

I bet you were/are and by the sound of it with just cause. I am just so pleased with my choices especially with what I have now seen here #:-s

Seen one of the worst cases today. I hasten to add this was his first visit to my practice.
Guy was lasered in 2000 at age 17/18 when his prescription hadnt stabilised. Not only has he had a dry eye problem ever since but he is getting more short sighted.

Today he wears glasses constantly and his prescription is around minus 3 with some astigmatism in addition.

He should never have been lasered in the first place.

Ray
On reading your post, Ray, It makes me realise how lucky I am, when I am moaning about where I have put my glasses, (especially when you have three pairs and can never find one) that I only need them to read the instructions on the new bottle of tablets that ye old doc has prescribed to keep me in the land of the living or to translate the unreadable text messages that my daughter sends me :ymsigh: Yet it seems odd at the same time that I can spot a deer or a hen harrier miles away and tell you whether it is male or female and how old it is, without any trouble at all. :)

It is so unfair that you have had to go through all that and still not have gained any better vision afterwards.

Looking forward to meeting you and Daz at Silverstone :-bd
Mike

was thinking about having this done , but not so sure now after the problems Boyces had !! :-q

Bessieblue

There are some interesting sites on the web
mainly in the USA, people are claimimg Millions in compensations,
after Lasek surgery, i feel for minor symptoms
Every optometrist i have spoken to, who is not connected with
the laser industry has shunned laser treatment
Laser is essential with certain eye related conditions.
I have been told, this monday gone at the hospital, my vision will not improve,
i now have a macular/retina problems, this even after several operations.
Nobody is prepared to put their hand and say its related to the laser treatment,
Someone hinted trauma to the eye after so much laser
Any hint of a liable action people shy away "a closed shop"
I just wanted my vision back :((

Thats enough, life must go on :nearmiss) :nearmiss) :nearmiss) :nearmiss)
New toy on the horizon :steer2) :steer2) :steer2) :steer2)

My advice is minimise the risk by finding an expert - not a clinic or a price but a known expert in the field.
Found out today that Prof Sunil Shah is doing laser surgery at the Westbourne Clinic in Birmingham
http://westbournecentre.com/laser-eye-surgery

He is a reknowned corneal expert.
If I was thinking of having it done he would be my choice.
Cost --- no idea, totally irrelevant - your eyes are too important to put at risk.

Hi Phil

The man who sorted out lots of my problems
was Mr Shiras Daya now owner of Centre 4 Sight

Not a car mike :(
Have too many already

I have to agree whole heartedly with that sentiment!!!

That is why when I went for it I ended up in Canada with one of the guys that sets the standard for the USA. I just was so scared of anything going wrong and reading all this has made me oh so glad I did my homework.

(I was also, I guess, lucky)

Just a little update went for another check up and I managed to read the bottom line of the chart. I'm really pleased with the results considering I couldn't read the top letter before! :D
