Key fob battery

Got one of the later ones, key with buttons on as opposed to separate house-brick, and I reckon the battery is on it's way out. Is it just a battery out, new battery in job, or will it need something a bit more complicated? Trawled through the Knowledgebase but couldn't find anything about it.

Well, thank you for that, young man. Glad to find out that there's a tiny thing in there before I dropped it.

I changed the battery in my keyfob which was flat for about a year (I'm so lazy!), I thought I wrote the resync process up in a post here but can't find it right now.

It's the same procedure as most 3 series if i recall. I'll have another search later.

Bought two batteries, swapped them over, both working fine. Can now open and close the car from about 50 yards away. Might come in handy one day.

Did you need to re-synch them? May have had to do it with mine because the batteries were dead for so long.

Either way all good now!

Changed the batteries, went straight to the car and tried them, no problems at all. Was just a bit concerned in case they needed re-coding or something like that but it's just a straight swap. Hurrah.

Didn't need to sync mine when I changed it. I seem to remember something that if you change the battery within so many seconds you don't need to? I may well be wrong.

The batteries in mine were dead since I bought the car three years ago, never bothered with the remotes until last week, bought a couple of batteries and they worked right away.

Guess I did it quick enough not to upset anything in the fob, old battery out and new one straight in.

It seems the key to this is to not let them be flat for a year then
