I couldn't figure who TS Fay was. I thought it was a person. As I usually don't follow current affairs, I'm usually not familiar with current names of people, so I looked it up in the computer. Am I stupid or what?. And I spent the whole frigging day vacuuming water out of the basement. It rained like a bi.ch. I dumped the water into the washer and let it pump it out instead of carrying it up the basement stairs. I filled the washer up twice!!! I was using 2 shop-Vacs. What a pain in the A.......................Frankie

Nice thinking Frankie, home made water pump in yer washer, your far from stupid, I would have probably passed the water to the wife halfway up the stairs thinking we only climbed half the stairs to get all the water out, then give myself and wife a pat on the back. Nice thinking outside the box, tip my hat to you.

Funny that you should mention the wife. My wife often had to vacuum the water when there was a big storm and I working. One day I came home and she was carrying a bucket of water up the cellar stairs. I told her to dump it in the washer and put it on the last minute of the rinse cycle when it spins the clothes dry and it would pump it out. She said no, that the inside of the washer might get dirty. I told her that on the rinse cycle, fresh water enters the tub as it's spinning to help rinse any soap left in the clothes. With the tub empty, it just rinses the tub. She refused and kept carrying the 5 gallon bucket up the flight of stairs. About a 2 weeks later I saw her using the wash machine to pump the water out. I'm surprised it took her that long to get tired of the stairs.................Frankie

Think she probably thought, Oh well, if the machine goes wrong he'll just have to get me a new one. Don't know if that's thinking outside the box but defo not thinking IN the box Frankie. :bag:
Here in UK we could ask for help if pensioner, fire brigade would come and pump it out. Now that's thinking IN the box, NO?????

I actually have a spare one. There's a friend of my wife's who bought a new washing machine that stopped working after 2 or 3 years. It was probably something minor like a fill switch or belt. But her dryer was old and needed replacing so she bought a new set of matching machines. I guess she thought she was decorating the laundry room with a nice new matching set. Money's not a problem for her. It pained me to see her let go of a machine that had probably 10 years left in it so when my wife said that she was putting it out front of the house for trash pick up, I told her to save it for us and I went and picked it up. I had a Maytag that was probably ready to go but I had kept up with as far as repairs as they were easy (much easier than cars if you get a repair manual). But, as things usually go, my wash machine wanted to see if I could take a joke and has been working flawlessly ever since and that's about 8 years ago....Hmmmmm..............Frakie
