Excellent solution Tony, is the z3 a standard blade or a micro?
Been a while since I was in my Z3 fuse box Simon but I think they were standard blade type. If you have a look on eBay search add a fuse, prices ranges from £2.50 ish upwards.:)

Thanks Tony, makes the job look a lot easier than ripping out wires under the centre console, will check tomorrow, cold outside :)

You should put a fuse of lesser value in the add on as this is what they're meant for, to blow before the main fuse. If you use the same size there is no protection really @t-tony. They should always be used on stereo systems to protect them! HTH. JIM

Not true Jim both circuits are fused separately that's why there are 2 fuse slots. That's the beauty of these add ons, they don't all rely on one fuse.

OK, job done, didn't get a fuse adaptor as I didn't want to have to run a wire into car, so just put 5 amp inline fuse to cigarette socket, pictures below, hardest part was just hand filing the blank plate, otherwise less than 5 minute job, and now sat nav and phone can charge without losing skin on knuckles changing gear and bashing the cigarette lighter adaptor

Great write up - just to confirm my assumptions - you bought the loose dual USB item from ebay and then made your own holes in a blanking plate for the USB ports to fit into and then you glued them into final place using a glue gun??
