Steve, that is brilliant, thanks for that!! Hope to meet up soon. Most things to be done on the car are straightforward, changing brakes, clearing drains for hood compartment etc, but if anything more in depth will contact you. Thinking of which clearing the drain for the soft top compartment is urgent as I remember on my last Z4, the motor failed because of the rainwater collecting in the compartment.

Have you thought about having the roof motor relocated to the boot. There is a guy in Durham that does it for around £80 and takes about 40 minutes. A few of us have had this done on ours.
Also have you got the Gaptec Roof Module fitted if not then i recommend that also

Thanks Tony, true, but he has a long drive (500 miles or so) to get to me and the car in a garage. Does seem strange as the key would be useless to him.....
Unless he's lost it!! Makes me wonder why he bought the new key in the first place, JIM

Yes, oh well I will never know. A trip to the BMW dealers soon. Don't like running a car with only one key!!
