Just helped a friend fit new H&S rear lowering springs. Once wheels back on and car back on the ground the springs look very compressed and not quite right.

Read a few conflicting stories on tinterweb so not sure where to go next.

What are everyone thoughts?

Good grief that doesn't look right, but I'm no expert.

No.....something wrong there
They are usually higher when fitted and compress a little bit in the first 2 weeks

They are definitely too soft.

Maybe it is right for this brand of Spring, but obviously doesn't look correct compared to a normal Spring.

How does it feel driving?

I haven't driven it personally but was a passenger and scraped a few speed bumps but nothing major. He hasn't done the fronts yet, they're on standard springs... I'm thinking this could be adding to the issue.

He's contacted H&S.

Cheers for feedback folks.

Anyone have any pics of their own lowered rear springs for a comparison?

I sometimes see this type of springs on cars for test, there is a small amount of movement left, but very little. They give a horrid ride and will shake the fillings out of your teeth. Take pictures of them on you car and then go get your money back.

Tony.

I'm doing rotors tomorrow so I'll take a few photos of mine. I did Eibach springs with Bilstein shocks/struts last week. Lowered the car about 1.5 inches all the way around. Looks great.

These are what my FK Silverlines looked like - this is with wheel off the ground. These were pretty low.

These are the BC racing 6kg springs, also low but has more gap between the coils:

That first picture doesn't look right at all, second one much more like it. A spring's got to have some give, or else it ain't a spring. Same goes for the picture from Barry78, take them off and throw them at the supplier.

Managed to find pics of them before fitted to the car. You can see a gap between all the coils here but when they were on the car they were adjusted (compressed) with the spring adjusters for a lower ride height which took away that gap.

They felt fine on smooth roads but were pretty harsh on bumps and would feel strange on certain motorway undulations - giving that pogo effect you see on super low cars.

The BC's are perfect by comparison.
This is the8kg BC spring I now run:

In conclusion @Barry78 's springs are correct, no complaints to the manufacturer!
But it will be quite rough on some roads, if the shocks absorbers are not strong enough!
