As a rule, I don't normally go for convertible versions of Alpina/M-Sport cars, it's much more the sort of thing my dad goes for, as he loves to show off (pose).

Well this afternoon, I went out for a pretty easy going drive, with the roof down and one of my favourite web radio shows playing through my sound system. This is the first time since owning my car, where the weather has been warm enough to enjoy doing this.

Just been blown away at just how wonderful my E85 M is to drive and it's got a folding roof! I had my music just loud enough for it to be clear, yet I could still hear the glorious S54 in action. The roads around Oxfordshire were pretty much clear all the time for me, thanks to it being half term and the temp was showing as 15c (in fecking February!). It was just a perfect moment for me, as I am on my strongest pain killers on a Thurs, so I was just able to enjoy the whole experience and not having any discomfort coming from my lower back.

So, it's meant I've just fell in love with my Zed, that little bit more! It was perfect! :D

Glad you had a great day

You chose a fantastic day for it mate .
Pleased your pain killers held the worst of it at bay. Lower back pain is awfull, had the same trouble and it still flares up now and then.

Steve.

Its hard to get non drop top drivers to understand how wonderful driving with the top down is.

Nice one. Do you find the heated seats help with your back? I float out of the car when they've been on, just glorious

It depends, my main spinal injury is from nerve damage caused in part by an extreme prolapsed disc and scar tissue covering those damaged nerves from an operation not healing correctly, after I had the disc cut and repaired. I also have a lot of muscle decay from years of not being able to move or bend very much. The final problem is due to other joints in my back wearing away excessively from years of my bodies posture being really badly effected from the first two injuries.

If my muscles are giving me all the grief, the heated seats really work at soothing the pain. So when I am worn out from pushing to hard say at a car meet, the heated seats are the best way of getting it under control. Inflamed nerves and joints, typically feel worse when I apply heat to my back, so it would make things worse to add more heat. Because I am on opiates, my body temp seems to be a touch higher than normal and I've often found myself in a lot of trouble if I let myself get too hot. The one thing I love about my Z4M, is because of such a small cabin, I am able to control the temp really well. Normally, I will always drive with my drivers window down a bit, as I like cool air on my face yet I can keep my body around a comfortable temp.

I think because the Z4 being designed as a roadster from the get go, it meant my M did suffer the same problems my dads E46 M3 Cab faced when compared to the E46 M3 Coupe. I might have just managed to some how get myself an E86 M, but it was by dumb luck that the only Z4M remotely close to my home in Oxford, just so happened to be the car I now own. Also in the back of my mind, I felt really bad for my dad having to give up his M3 cab, which he adored, so with that in mind I went for the E85 without bothering to look at any E86's.
