Junction 17 cars!!

I have heard from Barclays today and they are now involved with regard to the "Buy Back Process" that you can ask them for if you use a debit card. And, I have written to trading standards too and expect to hear from them in next couple of days!
I'm honestly not doing this for the £100 but when companies like this are trading and ripping people off it gets to me!
After Barclays have done with them I wont stop there I have other issues with them now and I want to be a pain in the backside for them!

Yocky I like your thinking mate, sweet!!
pgunter, that was my thoughts as well.

Junction 17 cars, we know who you are and we are coming for you.:poke:
All on the Z4 forum is aware now too.

Way to go make them think twice about screwing someone over for a £100.

Should not have got involved with them bud, always stick with the people you know or ask other people who they would recommend.
There is one over here that I would not go near with a barge pole.....http://www.targetcars.eu/
Plenty of enticing coupes there that haven't sold for a while!

If it was me. I would go and see them with a sawn off double barrel..
A guy I work with also does deniable ops for HMG (and other governments). He and his mates could sort it from over a mile away. How big a pile of sawdust and metal shavings would you like afterwards?=))

If you go through the company accounts (30pages) on Companies House site for Junction 17 Cars, it makes interesting reading.

Junction 17 cars is quite near me and seeing their adverts I went to have a look. I very quickly decided that it was not a place I would buy a car from! All the cars there look 'tatty' in one way or another, very similar to another garage in this area which I would avoid - Derby Cars - as seen on 'The Sheriffs are coming' or it might have been 'Can't pay we'll take it away' !
There are certainly a lot of dodgy car dealers about, best not to part with any money unless you're as sure as possible you are getting something you want.

I was reluctant to comment but having visited the Peterborough branch on two occasions I would describe them exactly as you have.

Why don't they prep the cars before putting them in the showroom?

First impressions are everything.

They said all the prep would be done, but the car looked awful. shame because it was a genuine example and could have looked the part if prepped.

Not preparing the car seems to be standard nowadays. CBA I suspect. If they can't sell it to some unsuspecting buyer they'll move it to auction. At least you get to see the car in the raw and decide for yourself I suppose, but to me it shows a lack of attention to detail. That immediately extends to everything about them imo. They're rushing to the bottom of the market not adding value to what they have.

Hard to believe that they had a £15 million turn over last year!!!! Must be a load of "satisfied" customers. Look on their own site and all reviews are 5star .

There are many laws regarding the issues that Junction 17 seek to circumnavigate. I bought Monty from them some years ago. I was not keen on the salesman so I paid part of the deposit on my credit card and had some of the cost put on HP supplied by them through Lloyds. this proved to be well worth while in my case. Monty was sold with a problem, the exhaust manifold was cracked. On Monty (Z4) the exhaust manifolds are made of Stainless Steel, which suffers from stress cracks. Any way it needed replacing, of course I took the car back to Junction 17 for the problem to be sorted under warranty. thats when the problems start. Thetr after sales service is terrible. I had a real job to get them to even recognise the problem, all they did was keep resetting the the engine management light. I approached Lloyds, under Law if you buy a car with HP it is incumbent on the HP company involved to ensure the car is in a condition to last for the term of the Loan, 2 years in my case. Eventually after months of toing and froing, lots of letters etc, Lloyds agreed to pay for the repair to be completed by a BMW specialist. Mind you I had to wait 4 months for BMW to make the part required, available in the UK. The cost of the repair was nearly £2000. I also contacted my credit card company and had my deposit refunded I think its rule 76 under the credit card laws. I have no doubt that both Lloyds and the credit card company got their money back from Junction 17 and more. Probably why they went into liquidation.
If you ever doubt the car you are about to buy from any dealer remember this advice. Pay the deposit by Credit card and have some of the balance on HP. It must be HP as personal loans do not work in the same way. Whilst it might seem to go against the grain, these services do give you protection under the law and are worth the effort if you believe the dealer is shady.

Good advice.

I always tell people to take someone along who knows the industry.

I've seen plenty of rubbish, even on main dealer forecourts.

Some real interesting points there there Mike, did not know the fiancé company had an obligation under a HP agreement, good for you for your persistence.

The guy that owns this company is well known around me. I know his "director" very well and please if you are not put off all ready please DO NOT buy from either of their sites. They are bad news!

Brian I've checked this with a friend of mine who's just retired from being a general manager at a well known car supermarket and they can't legally keep your deposit so go get it!!
@MAURICE THE MARTIAN why do you disagree with my statement? :(. This wasn't a deposit to buy, this was a deposit to hold until Brian could view the car. Both very different.

Yes, seen it many times now, dealers having cars on sale with damage, crappy tyres etc...

The problem with that is it really does put most people off.

And for a fussy bugger like me I would want to see the standard of their repairs before committing to buy.

Reminds me of when I went to Vindis in Cambridge to pick up my used Audi A1, apart from other more serious issues, the wheels that they had refurbished were dreadful, really dreadful.

Needless to say I said "no thank you" and had to find another car.

So it's not just independents you have to watch.

I had to demand my monies back from three main dealers buying the missus an Audi A1, I got fourth time lucky with stafford Audi.

Quite right Grumps if the showroom had been an hour away I would have gone there, instead I arranged to go two days later so he said to make sure it was still available he would list it as reserved until I seen it and if I didn't like it I would have the fee back.
I still havnt had any response from them at all, four phone calls and an email to "customer services"
As I said though I am still on their case, involved so far are, Barclays, citizen advice, and trading standards!
And today I have sent another email off to them giving them 7 days to respond. I don't expect to hear anything from them though but that's not the point for me now, I want to see how far I can go with them without it costing anymore of course, but don't tell them that!
