I've Gone all Village People

The world is going nuts Andy. Was down at my nieces if Croydon on Wednesday. A guy in one of the other flats in the building drives a Hummer. The singularly most inappropriate form of transport in the middle of London. There you are in the back of beyond, miles from nowhere, with space in every direction .... and forced to ride a motorbike. Does not compute...
Agreed Ian but it's either buy a car and try and find peeps to car share whichn I'm not keen on. Plus as a Manager leaving on time can be random so it wouldn't work. The bus takes forever but drops me off just to get another bus onto Site and I'd need to walk a couple of miles, through muddy tracks and in the rain just to get the ram packed train. With a bike I can park right outside my office and have no dramas about leaving times.

Tell you what. I’ll do a car share with you. The arrangement is I’ll pick you up on my way in to Sellafield every day. You’ll be able to blame me every time you can’t get to work. You’ll get every day off. What can they do? Sack me? They can’t blame you for working to their imposed criteria.

Do they say that all three in the car have to work there?
Just take two random people retired people in with you each day. =))

I'm liking your thinking Ian, chances of getting in without the appropriate pass is a tad slim, if not slimer :(

Passes? Not a problem. Know a few guys who are ex SAS and do close protection and deniable ops in their spare time. They’ll get you in anywhere you want to go, They’ll bring their own passes with them =))

Absolutely mate. We do have one or 2 of these though mate, the people are secondary but the assets would be safe ;) North West Ambulance Service would need many many ambulances

Looking forward to the challenge of being cold mate, oh, and damp. Apparently it's prone to rain up here :) State of mind, happy, safe, dry and warm :)

What a palaver getting a bike license now. I took my test in 1967 on a Lambretta TV175 a week after first putting the L plates on it. The examiner stood on the street corner while I went round the block clockwise, then anticlockwise, then he held up his board so I could do an emergency stop, total time about 10 minutes. This gave me my full MC license which I still have, though not been on a bike for 45 years. I could still go out and buy a Hayabusa and ride it home. Mind you I'd probably only make a 100yds or so before they were harvesting my organs.

:scorecard: Be careful on your bike , it’s looks lovely, we were going to get a bike each a few years ago, but decided not too , enjoy :coolsteer)

Tinted windows and a couple of inflatable dolls in the car might sort it.

Another thought, are they suggesting you have to get 3 people into a 2 seat car to go on site? If so, this is discrimination against sports cars and can not be tolerated. It is also suggesting that you should break the law. So called "green travel plans" have been used for years by the NHS with car parking reduced on new builds to "encourage" so called green travel; net result is that visitors and the sick have greater stress (and cost) trying to park when attending hospitals. Also "forcing" people on to two wheels ( which is statistically more dangerous than car travel) is wrong. Sellafield policy needs to be challenged.

2 seaters are allowed in with 2 up but I'm not using my Zed every day as the farm track would destroy it in a few years. Zero challenge sadly, that's just how it is :( Car share, bus, train or bike, which wins for me.

Had to Google this place.

So let me understand this right

Sellafield is a nuclear fuel reprocessing and nuclear decommissioning site, close to the village of Seascale on the coast of the Irish Sea in Cumbria, England.

Sellafield incorporates the original nuclear reactorsite at Windscale, which as of August 2019 is undergoing decommissioning and dismantling, and Calder Hall, a neighbour of Windscale, which is also undergoing decommissioning and dismantling of its four nuclear power generating reactors.

So they deal with highly toxic nuclear waste but to be green by limiting vehicles on site?
What if you have a nuclear powered car?

I guess parking spaces are tight too so see the logic.

I heard you have a lot of lakes up there - hovercraft might be better :wtf:

10.000 employees and 14.000 contractors. Lots of new builds and yup, tight for parking. Highly toxic ..... a tad ;)

Take care on that @andyglym, no matter what you do there are a lot of idiots on the roads and bike riders are very vulnernable.
Cheers mate. It's a straightforward run on nice wide and well maintained A roads. It's also a slow run in with well disciplined road users that are all going to the same place, all line astern.
