It's odd to me !

OK, I'm standing in the 2 metre apart queue at the supermarket near the bit where they sell fags etc. On the wall is a notice explaining that the government guidelines re; coronavirus prevent them from selling lottery tickets or paying out winnings as they are not deemed essential, presumably in the interests of our health. Odd to me that the same people at the same desk can sell as many fags, tobacco and booze as they like. I didn't realise that you couldn't catch Covid 19 from packaging containing tobacco and of course we all know how good smoking is for your health, especially your lungs.

Off topic, I know, but I went to the local bank the other day to pay my electricity bill, just like I've done many times before. Seems the girl behind the bulletproof glass wearing the mask and gloves can't do this any more, but I can write a cheque and post it to British Gas. So just how many people are going to handle that by the time it gets paid into a bank at their end?
As for tobacco sales, there will be more people dying of smoking related reasons just now than of C19, but you're not supposed to mention that.
 
Don't see why they can't sell lottery tickets or pay out to winners if they are serving the same people with the rest of the stuff. Barmy !
 
On the first week of lockdown my local coop wouldn't pay out on winning lottery tickets but have since sold and paid out on winning tickets since , mind all I had was a free lucky dip
