Yeah, studying History, a big year this one but she's on track, her 5 module exams from last year were rated as;
1 x 2-2
3 x 2-1
1 x First

Obviously not behaving like proper students used to. Oh, the good old days of not leaving university with enough debt to have bought a house instead.

Absolutely mate. Fair play to Charlotte and her two mates, they've been out for a few scoops once in two years :oops: Study, eat, sleep (and occasionally wash some clothes) ☢

Surely the whole point of being young is to behave badly? It's the best time to do it, after all, I know I wouldn't survive these days, be fast asleep in a quiet corner.
Not in her DNA, gets it from Mum, fortunately otherwise she'd be leathered every night and fighting :thumbsup:

Obviously a long (very!) time ago for me, but I got a 'grant' not a huge loan. Supplemented my grant by working for the council during my summer holidays. That was to pay for all the beer!😂 My mate and I rented the ground floor of a tiny old terraced house, outside toilet and no bathroom, but cheap.The Young Ones always reminded me of our student days.😂 Proper Uni though, Bristol. Later I did graduate from two other proper Uni s, Nottingham and Master's at Sheffield. Better off doing an Apprenticeship these days, paid while you train.

A lot better learning a trade (and that is via proper full Apprenticeship not these coarse for a few month). It is getting more difficult these days to find a good tradesman,but firms find it hard to justify the cost of training them,and then see them leave after.

Child No.3 is due to start her Graduate Degree Apprenticeship with Cavendish Nuclear in September. £17,400 per annum whilst training then straight on at £38k with no debt. Horses for courses I suppose. I was too thick to do either so had to get a job.

People used to say, “Get a Saturday job” but I can’t tell you of one in Lincoln where they will pay you for aSaturday job these days. They expect a kid to come and work for nowt, and that, in my opinion doesn’t set a good example to young people.

Tony.

'Apprentice' used to be a term associated only with 'trades', but these days there are opportunities in many careers as Andy has shown. My eldest grandaughter did really well at school and has taken up an apprenticeship with an accountancy firm , good salary plus training for her qualifications.Win, win.
