I just watched the latest heavy Falcon 9 rocket launch from Cape Canaveral (on WFTV.com) including the landing of the solid rocket booster. Now, even if you support what they're doing there, or not, you cannot but be amazed at these launches and landings of the boosters. Recycling taken to an extreme.
There was on while we were in Florida in May and it was visible from the street outside our house.

Tony.

Amazing what can be done when we put our minds to it.

Never managed to be in Florida for a launch. Closest we got was one scheduled while we were there but got cancelled.

The whole thing never ceases to amaze me, but kids nowadays just don't see what a big deal it is.

I have always by space flight from being a little lad, Dan Dare was the first strip I looked for in Eagle on Sunday morning it was also in the People news paper.
I've never had the chance to watch a live launch, I must make it one of my things to do before it gets too late.

We saw and felt the 2nd last Shuttle launch from the causeway across to Canaveral and it was a brilliant experience.

We saw (and felt) one shuttle launch, viewing from Banana River Drive,
Then on a subsequent holiday in 2005 we visited CC and there were posters up everywhere saying launch viewing opportunity, I asked is it today?.......... they said it went up an hour ago.. :banghead:

not only that, it meant all the launch pad tours were off that day.

Fantastic, but it's the booster landings that impress me. Saw one landing on a ship, there are some very clever people about. Pity I'm not one.:(

Absolutely outstanding Ken. I'll add a link to the video if I can find it. You can see the 3 landing legs spring open a matter of feet before it touches down.

Tony.
