While driving up to the Midlands today, I left the M40 to take the A46. Just as I roll to the lights I see a Corsa kiddie in his pimped out ride, both windows rolled down, arms on the doors, stereo was "banging". These lads were living the life for sure...

What happens next may have been slightly embarrassing for pretty much everyone involved, but just couldn't help myself. Up goes the volume control on my phone which is streaming to the head unit, up goes the volume on the head unit to about 75%.

I don't normally listen to music that loud, particularly at traffic lights because people stare at you. There was an incident with Taylor Swift and "Shake it off" some months back. It wasn't manly in any shape or form.

Being in close proximity to the Corsa at full volume was probably quite stressful for the other motorists, but not quite as bad as being near the Corsa / Z4 banjo duel which had just started... I am pleased to say that the superior sound system fitted to the Z4 was easily able to drown out whatever the hell they had been playing. Being at 75% volume I could even raise the stakes when his Halfords special offer head unit went to "full tilt".

We stopped at 3 red lights on that round about, door mirror to door mirror. I don't know if these lads know, or even care who Emeli Sandé * is... But it turns out she is the perfect method to counter Corsa kiddies. I'm not even sure if they will "Read all about it" later on, or if they really cared at all. I didn't take my eyes from the road in front once. I wasn't there to stare them down, just to do my own thing. Loudly.

My thanks to BMW for their awesome Z4 stereo systems and being considerate enough to fit an Aux connector, and to Samsung for my Galaxy 5s being able to stream music so admirably and to Amazon prime for not shafting me with some Taylor Swift yet again at the crucial moment.

My apologies to the other users of that particular roundabout today.

My name is Gaz. I am a child, and I do childish things. :D

* It was an Amazon Prime mixed play list. 2 minutes earlier at the lights would have been Britney Spears' "Born to make you happy". 2 minutes later at the lights would have been Florence & the machines' "You've got the love". Whatever happened in the space of those possible 10 minutes, I was OK!

Unforgivable!!!! You came to our neck of the woods and didn't stop by to say hello!!!

Sounds like perfectly normal behaviour to me.:)

Now I thought it was just me that liked playing load music while in my Zed.
Funny cus I don't play music in my Fiesta it's just not the same.

Sounds like perfectly normal behaviour to me.:)
Mmm. Not quite sure. Think I'd have left them stranded at the second set of lights

I've noticed that the Z4 stereo is much much better way up loud than low - that's my excuse anyway

Sorry Gail, it was a manic day out. Barely had enough time to do what I did. Bank holiday traffic was horrendous today.
Least you could have done is call in - and help me haul a car load of junk to the tip =))

You big Kid, Gaz. Go stand in the corner and repeat 100 times "I must clean my Zed More"

Mike

Your such a child lol! I love it that your brave enough to tell the story. I never have music on in the Zed or my daily driver but do listen to my ipod a lot in my cab. Usually very loud. As I'm a rocker boy it has to be loud.........very very loud!

Really was unforgivable Gail. Stoke Golding, About 10 mins from you?

Not that I'm trying to get him into trouble.........=))
About 4m as the crow flies.

Tut tut @GazHyde!! You had better remedy this when you come to pick it up!!

Well, whilst you were abusing other road users with your taste in music I was bursting blood vessels taking that bloody exhaust off, a lack of room for a big breaker bar made it a real pig of a job. Conceded defeat for the first time in ages and had to go and borrow the right tool for the job!
