Well you know the game birds play swooping down low in front of you from one side to the other, well this pigeon dived bombed me from above. Alas he misjudged it and BAM! Bunny rabbits I thought, there goes my headlight or bumper :( Went with quite a thump. Pulled over a little further on to see what the damage was. Headlight o.k, bumper o.k but a missing kidney grille. Looking in through the hole it looked like an explosion in a pillow factory! The grille minus chrome surround was on the under tray and near it was the pigeon, no sign of the chrome surround. I was lucky that firstly the grille being punched out must have absorbed most of the energy and that the cross brace on the front panel in front of the radiator had stopped both grille and pigeon hitting the radiator which was a genuine Hella Behr one fitted last year.

fresh roadkill.

Lucky escape for the car that @Synclare and fortunately no major damage. I hit a pheasant one day when it ran out from a hedge and split the plastic bumper on our Mondeo we had at the time. and one time Dad hit a Pigeon in the Austin Cambridge and it came to rest in loads of pieces around the engine and what a smell it made took ages to clear the debris and smell.
 
Well lucky you,I'm always trying to get birds in me Zed ,with no joy sadly ,joking apart adrian that must have one hell off an impact ,to cause that damage,were you on the motorway?
 
Not with all those diseases and nasties they carry Tony! Always pheasants roaming the grass verges on the way to work around 7 ish Brian, seems the peak time for them so always keeping a wary eye out for them. Doing a steady 55 ish Jimmy, just a plump old bird. I know of a chap @Nefyn cat hit by a pheasant on his motorcycle (no the pheasant wasn't riding the motorcycle) and it unfortunately killed him, broke his neck :(
 
Wow 55 mph and done that damage, I suppose the only saving grace is you've got some spare grills about adrian,I think it's wise to keep well away from plump old birds now

I knew a lass years ago riding on the back of her boyfriends motor bike with an open face helmet (remember them?) and she was hit in the face by a bee and it made a right mess of her.

On the day of my driving test I drove over a pigeon in a yaris and it made a very loud popping noise, I was probably going about 20mph and the pigeon was disease ridden and just lying on the road sooooo.... I could have avoided it but I was too scared to slow down as that would involve changing gear! :thumbsup:
 
That would've been a city pigeon though mate. Country pigeons are great fat things this time of year and are good eating, no diseases in them.

I think you may be thinking about feral Pigeons when it comes to diseases, woodies actually make very good eating,
