It ain't 'alf hot.

After a night in Mobile, today we're off to Biloxi Ms.
Just having a minute at the Miss. welcome centre as WiFi at hotel is crap.

After leaving Mobile we set off in a roundabout way back to Florida. We spent the night in Tallahasse. Fl. but first a visit back to the Flora-Bama bar on the state line between Florida and Alabama. Had a bar lunch while we were there. They also had a wedding going on in the afternoon.

Country Music star Kenny Chesney had a huge concert here on the beach a few years ago.
The Florida welcome centre we came across on the way into Florida from Alabama was a very nice place to visit, where you can pick up area maps and attraction discounts. Also in most you can get free coffee.

After visiting the BMW factory in Spartanburg SC. my next favourite destination had to be Nashville. It didn't disappoint either, we had 3 nights here.
20230515_212848.webp

Our first day saw us take a double-decker bus tour around Nashville and a walk around the Broadway Area which stretches from the Cumberland River up to 6 or 7 city blocks of bars serving food and playing live country music nearly 24/7.
Lots of history.

The bus tour was recorded on my video camera (till the battery died that is). We both got a little sun burn on this as the breeze fooled you into thinking it was cooler.

The tiled floor shown did have real silver dollars laid in it. Apparently customers tried to remove them an use them to buy drinks back in the day.
Also a building being constructed for Eric Church is obviously behind schedule but I do like the song lyrics printed on the dust sheets around the site. Many of the businesses are owned by Country Music stars of today and many were frequented by stars of the past including Johnny Cash.

You're not allowed to take pictures during the tour, but they do take one for you standing on the circle cut from the original Ryman auditorium stage which was 18 miles away in Nashville.

Thankfully they didn't ask us to sing.

Thank-you so much for sharing Tony..

After leaving the Opry we went into the nearby Mall for a coffee and a pit stop before going the 18 miles back into the City to visit the "Country Music Hall of Fame" and a final walk down the Broadway in the late afternoon sun.

More from the Hall of Fame, after we left, we walked back over to the Broadway trying to find a place to eat where there wasn't a live band playing so that we could talk while eating. I had a "Shrimp P'o Boy" (Google it) and it was bloody good.

We have really enjoyed our first visit to Nashville, it may not be our last. So much to see and hear and taste too. People are so friendly and do make you feel welcome in their City. Much the same as we felt in Savannah before we came here. That's for another day, if you can stand it?

Tony.
