It ain't 'alf hot.

Today we had a day at Melbourne Beach to meet someone Shirl knows from one of her Florida forums.
After a coffee an a chat we went to the coast.

Facilities provided along the beach are clean, tidy and well maintained.
We headed back into Melbourne and drove along A1A for a few miles until we got hungry, as we went back along the road we came across "Cadillac Cove", a roadside Tiki hut bar where we decided to partake of refreshments.
Not a bad view.

20230508_164423.webp

A lot of Brits have brought their number plates to put up on the walls. Happy hour 4 till 7.
Outside the door as we arrived was this,

20230508_160247.jpg

We had to park at the other end of the carpark so didn't have a chance to leave a card. 2nd E85 plus 2 E89 on trip to Melbourne last Thursday. No Z3s up to now.

Tony.

ps. This week's forecast. And, its Mother's Day on Sunday.

And im not at all envious... bet that matress could tell a tale or two:)

A different type of car show tonight in Old Town. This was Imported cars, which made a change to me. Apparently this started 5 years ago and is held on the last Sunday of the month.
Here's a selection, only 1 BMW though, till another rolled in as we were leaving.

Like the Type R, we have a Sport (1.6 rather than2.0) that's almost the same colour.

Yesterday we went to a Buc- ee's, never been to one before. This one is at Daytona Beach, has 104 fuel pumps and no trucks allowed, cleanest restrooms are guaranteed.
This, is Bucee. Its not a fuel station, its a destination.

I loved my trips to Florida when my kids were young, particularly the drive down to the Keys, but I find most stuff in the US tacky. Just consumerism at its best (worse).

So, am I supposed to drive to a petrol station to buy a barbecue? Do some shopping? I find our own shopping centres here in the UK to be quite boring, but...

Sorry, not trying to detract from you holidays (which seem lovely), but there's something about the USA and it's citizens that doesn't sit well with me; and I do have family leaving in the USA (Texas).

Last night in Jacksonville, tonight in Savannah , Ga. Tomorrow a trolley tour of the City followed be a 1 1/2 hour paddle steamer river cruise. Then to the airport to sort our next 30 days car hire.
Monday is Spartanburg day for the factory and museum tour, a shame, ( I suppose ;)) they still not making the Z3!
Hope to get some pictures where we’re allowed.

Tony.

Why a run out to the airport to sort the car hire Tony?
I’m looking forward to some photos re: factory. Great collection of very interesting ones so far. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Spotted this in the news:

Robot camera spots alligator in Florida water pipe

Yeah, I saw that. They want to physically see the vehicle when you have it for more than 30 days for some reason. Nearest Alamo office is at the airport in Savannah.

Tony.

ps. By the way the airport is about 5 miles.

Finally sorted via email, telling us it would just "roll over" anyway so why all the aggro beats me. Hotel booked at Spartanburg.

Tony.

Not sure about this colour.
20230513_091212.webp

But, every manufacturer is using it or a very similar shade of grey right now. Toyota, Neesaaaan, GMC, Chevvys.
Moving on to Myrtle Beach, SC. this morning.

Tony.

After arriving in Myrtle Beach and getting checked into our hotel for the night we are having our evening meal at the "Sea Captain's House" right on the beach.

What a crap view from the dining table.;)
Heading to Spartanburg in the morning.

Tony.

Saw a black E89 in Savannah yesterday, it was filthy not stealthy. Spotted a white E85 in a yard this afternoon heading to Myrtle Beach. Still not one Z3.

Tony.

But then, tonight after we ate, we had a drive along the front at Mrytle Beach and guess what I spotted. He tried to escape being photographed, but I got 'im!

Time for a catch up while most of you are sleeping. We left Orlando on Wednesday and headed to Daytona because we wanted to visit the Buc-ees there and then head up the A1A via Ormond Beach and then Flagler Beach. The east coast of Florida in this area is almost dead straight.
