It’s a diesel!

Went for a little drive yesterday and it still drives pretty good it’s just the rattle that’s annoying... why BMW?
 
Have to say I’ve been hugely let down by Mr Vanos. Appointment booked months in advance, then called to change which I agreed to, then they tried to re-arrange again, then a day before I am due to travel to them they called to say the replacement double-Vanos they have for my car has failed their test and has been binned so I will have to re-arrange again. All seems like they never wanted to do the job or have other priorities. I will look elsewhere as trust has gone...

I believe Hack Engineering does the vanos on these now too. Worth speaking with to check.

Not good he has let you down.
He is the best out there.

My car is a different beast now.

Yeah I thought he would be the best option Mark but it seems like they are no longer interested in just the basic Vanos repair. Had two different receptionists call me to try to move my appointment for the third time before the last minute call to claim the only double-vanos part they had available had failed some pre-installation test and it would be days before they could get another. They knew I had booked time off work for the appointment and was planning to travel 150 miles to get to them but they couldn‘t offer me any option other than yet another rearranged appointment in a couple of weeks. Sorry to whinge but knowing they are supposed to be the go-to people I am gutted at the treatment I’ve received.

Shame, he has done both my Ms and though can be a pain to get hold of (just too busy) he didn't let me down. Top man IMHO with a huge amount of knowledge / experience ......... transformed my Zed.

Bit of advice if anyone needs to contact him, don't phone, he wont answer if he is working on a car, as he says if he answered every call no one would get their car fixed, text him he will respond when he is free (in my experience anyway)
 
Hugh, don't look at the water temp gauge on the S50 to know when its warm and safe to thrash it, its the oil temp gauge you need to check and that takes a hell of a lot longer than the water temp, at least 70 degrees before you thrash the arse off the poor old thing, shouldn't take it above 3000rpm until the oils warm or you'll bugger your Vanos ;)

BTW your Vanos is b******* mate :whistle:=))

Thanks Nozed. I’ve never had any problem contacting Mr Vanos. It’s just that they’ve d:cked me around so much changing my booking that I have lost confidence. It’s good to hear others have had great results - hoping I can find a way to achieve the same now.

Have to say my experience was excellent and have no complaints,he must be busy as he can’t fit me in till 22july.Im sorry to hear of your problems is it a different vanos for the 2.2 as I imagine the majority is for the 3.2 which he may have more on the shelf? Still it doesn’t sound like good customer service from an experienced company. @Nodzed my patients runs out at water temp...ready or not:whistle:=))

As far as I know the double Vanos for the M54 is used in a number of models so thought it would be quite common...
 
I feel all the bullshit coming from Vanos way up to here in Quebec. Dropped the guy. Poor business approach. He's king of his castle and only his castle. Sorry for your misstreatment.
