Is this possible?

Not possible in my opinion and its clearly plastic in the pic

I saw this too. Can't see how a glass window would enable the hood to fold in the space in a Z3

Not thinking of buying it, but this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1998-BMW-Z3/232832851568?hash=item3635eb5e70:g:jwIAAOSwK8BbO7PN claims to have a glass back window. So, is it likely? I think not, but I have been wrong a couple of times in the past. 1982, I think it was.
I think it is possible because when I purchased my new soft top I was ask if I wanted glass or plastic window. I was advised that if I had glass to have it fitted by a professional as it’s critical to get it right or as you fold it down you will break the glass so I went for plastic.

Somebody either did not know what they were talking about or they were pulling your chain. It is simply not possible to fold the roof into the available space in a Z3 with a rigid rear screen. Maybe there was some confusion with the glass screen in a hard top?

I know when I've spoken to Raymond at Jack Smith before he surprised me by saying that he fits rigid glass in place of plastic on some convertibles. I can't remember which ones but I'm fairly certain it wasn't Z3s.

If anyone can show me a glass rear window in a Z3 roadster that folds into the space provided I'll eat my ///M :D

You best keep some salt and pepper on standby in case.

Reading up on this people take this on as an extreme challenge and come up with folding glass systems to make it work. Although I've not seen it on a Z3.

I can't really see the point myself. Especially with a big line down the middle if it folds.

It's a shame they don't have a proper zip on the Zed window on my old stag and mx5 you could unzip the window and open your window and get a nice breeze through the car.

I guess an aftermarket place could build that into a new hood..

When I replace my hood I’ll do a custom shape window, more oval maybe like the M rear view mirror.
I’d happily have no window at but might look odd just fabric..

I thought about a small glass bit that would not need to fold but it would be high up so look weird?
I really dislike this plastic window business.

Pretty sure someone did a photoshop-type thing on here of a window-less hood, didn't look quite right somehow. Was a few years back, and I may be misremembering things. One of the perils of getting older, I guess.

No, definitely not glass. There is a pic that shows the hood up. The rear screen has the same fold across the middle that all our cars have...

I remember that too mate, you're not losing your marbles.

But who is going to make you the oval shape safety glass rear screen? I am sure that could be done but I think the cost would rule it out. Nice idea though.

I mean plastic for the custom shape.
A place in Croydon does custom windows. @Sir Percival has a custom size window on his kit car from them and wasn’t a huge amount more I recall.

That will look really good if you get it right.

He was telling me about this also and he has tried for ages to make it work for a Z3 but it just can't be done because of the way it folds and the space it folds into.
