Hi all, names Gary.
Followed the Dual Mass FlyWheel conversation with interest, well done.
Had my 1997 Zed M44 1.9 a few years now. Its not my daily runner, sunshine car + Money pit.
Total repaint, lowered with H&R Suspension and springs, 300mm front Disc conversion, M Sport Wheels.Stainless Power Flow exhaust system next on list unless anyone has a better system in mind.
Been debating the Super Charger route a while now and also looking at up grading the clutch to deal with the extra power.
Some interesting threads out there about using E36 M Sport 3.0 as a straight replacement, that looks a good option to me.
I like the sound of 200+ bhp from the old 4 pot and a fairly light weight body, should make for an interesting drive. Nothing is ever as simple as it sounds and with research its gonna cost more than a few coins of the realm to do it right.
Will post Picture when back in UK as working in Denmark at present.

Thanks for the welcome people, hopefully we can all share our good and not so clever ideas .
You learn quicker with a few expensive cock ups. Happy days, bring on the sunshine. :)

Will try to some pics in when back in UK Next weekend, lovely stance with the 30mm lowering and handles like a go cart around Milton Keynes. We brought our roundabouts in bulk. Ha!
Have a good un.

Hello and welcome from Truro from another Garry

I think it's great that people individualise their cars, whether it's through engine mods, body mods or both.

This forum is a great place to interact with other like minded enthusiasts. I'd be interested to see a super charger mod

The m44 was a bit unloved and not much out there to make it perform better. Before I brought mine I sampled them all including the Ms and at the end of the day its horses for courses. The big motors are excellent and make you smile when you give it some but I found them a bit heavy at low speeds where as the 1.9 is well flickable. I like a challenge and it was brought with the intention of seeing what I could do to increase its performance. I wanted something early and with minimal electric power mods, even looking at can I convert the window mechanism to handrolyic ( hand winders ). The electric mirrors came off a couple of years ago and I had some billet alloy engineered to fit the original mirror mounts on the doors so I could fit some nice stainless Halcyon sport mirrors. Not for everyone I know, but wouldn't the planet be boring if we were all the same. I will include some pics at a later date. The seats will get replaced one day without the electric adjustment but they need to look right and in keeping with the car.The 4 pots aint for everyone but now it handles and stops its time to make it go faster. Its a money pit but makes me smile every time I drive it and that reminds me why I brought it in the first place.
A future classic without a doubt, they got the shape right first time.

I totally agree on everything you wrote, but what I like more is trying to get rid of the electrical and come back to old school! This is a first here! We will follow you with attention!
