Better make formal as she is now at home and new member of DOC JACOB family.

Remarkably 20 years old and wearing well.

Alloys and door trim got bit of TLC before coming formally into my ownership.

I’m a semi retired GP in Northern Lincolnshire with unhealthy interest in steam trains according to my wife. Oddly she didn’t argue much against this purchase though!

Maybe next year when Covid-19 is less of a pre-occupation a Z meeting at Lincolnshire Wolds Railway?

Garage deffo not that spotless usually.

Specifc condition was: Z3 comes if garage tidied and painted. Saved some of the “really useful” bits (crap in my wife opinion) to the toy room.

Unbelievable amount of toys there waiting to be built here and more than enough till RIP!

One persons "crap" is another persons essential equipment! :)
Now you've got a nice clean tidy garage to mess up. What's not to like.

:welcome: From Bonzo and Z3lda. Nice beige interior and tonneau cover, just like mine!

Can you give us more info on your Z3 please. A spec. as well would be great.

Certainly can. Think I rather lucked out.

OK is the small engine but definitely doesn’t come with ASBO and absolute pleasure to drive.

Just about every factory optional extra from new. I’m 3rd owner and the FSH is from 1st owner but continue

Now 20 years old and 23k on clock, a little gem IMHO

Won’t be getting wet while in my care either!

I have the Oregon beige extended leather interior just like yours, but with wood trim and sports seats. If the tyres are the originals I would get a new set a.s.a.p.
Also check condition of spare wheel and change the tyre. The wheel and carrier can get quite rusty.

Thanks for the advice regarding spare and a job for tomorrow. The other 4 are not original and certainly wouldn't fancy rubber as old as that as my only point of contact with tarmac.

As aside since on-call for our local Hospice this W/E my other love will have to wait. Very fortunate to be allowed to play and have some small part in railway wagon restoration. For the record this is before/during and after shots of 1937 LNER Grain Wagon

Hi Doc. Here in Aylsham we have our very own narrow gauge passenger Steam Railway, The Bure Valley Railway. For about 3 years I was a volunteer trainman (an unqualified assistant guard} on the service Aylsham-Wroxham-Aylsham. Once I learnt all the guard's duties and safety stuff, the qualified guard and I used to work alternate trips, and boy we were busy, giving driver alerts for unmanned crossings, station approaches, passing loop procedures etc etc.
3 return trips a day was the norm, sometimes with well over 100 passengers each trip, all with tickets that had to be checked. Also with a turntable turn around at Wroxham, in peak times a 2 man guard team was essential. All very enjoyable! After a couple of years or so the happy vibe seemed to change, some staff and volunteers left and as I wasn't enjoying it, I eventually stopped volunteering.

I have organised 2 outings on the railway for Forum members, with a trip on a broads cruiser from Wroxham after a Fish and Chips lunch. We had good weather for one of the trips, but I think both outings were enjoyed.

Probably a daft newbie question. My Z3 has the original electric sun roof.

Any tips or hints for when she goes away for the winter please?

Is it best stored folded or up? Any maintenance to the mechanism?
