I have just received renewals for the Z3 (include extra Breakdown Cover) X1 and Ivor Williams. 3 named drivers on each. Premiums are down 5.5% to £1094 with £100 excess on each policy for any of us driving The youngest driver is son at 53. (just for if he wants/needs to drive as they have Merc,Isuzu and Land Rover). Interestingly they have increased the excess for a driver under 21 to £1100 and between 21 & 28 to £350. I have no idea why .

That sounds a lot ? Or is it me . . .

I thought my 15 plate E89 was £200, but I've checked and that was last year - paid £171 up until November this year. Herself is a named driver. Excess don't mind an extra £350. Add an Offspring on an as-required basis (RARELY) for a week or two.

Do seem to have to change provider every year though - I'm a bit of a tart, no loyalty, Insurers don't have any why should I. AA this year, daily driver has just flipped from AA to LV for similar money. Do stick to known brands.

Time for a Martin Lewis comparison methinks . . .

When I have tested the market (I do every other year)I dont find enough difference to tempt me to change , With us both around 80 that does not help any. A few years ago I got a minor hit in the rear of my e61 , a lady let me out in traffic , then went in my rear 300yds up the road. The staff at nfu actually told me how to claim off third party directly , so they never logged it on my records.

I have tried in the past but as soon as I mention modifications the cost goes way up, some flatly refuse to quote. My renewal this year is £365.

Ours is up this month with Adrian Flux. Last year it cost £139 and this year's renewal is £159 for the wife as the main driver and me as a named driver. Not too bad all things considered.

Got a quote from Chris Knott today for my 3.0 Z4 at £290. If the car was bog standard it would've been £190 so modifying it costs me £100. Mannings couldn't/wouldn't get close so after a good few years of loyalty or lazyness they're history. Turns out you tell them all your modifications and it doesn't matter what you have changed it costs a certain amount, you just have to tell them about all you've done. (lowered suspension, braided brake lines, decals, Induction kit (non turbo), upgraded alloys and boot spoiler.)

I've just paid £160 for this year coming year. That's me and the good lady.
That was the renewal price on my existing policy. Thought it was alright so couldn't be bothered to shop around.

I’m with Adrian Flux on agreed value policy, just got renewal. Gone up from £240 to £302, so I’ll be having a look around before renewal at end of month. Looking through Straight Six magazine I’ll try a few companies.
Classicline
Manning (been with them previously)
Hagerty (never tried them before now)
Footman James.

BMWCC insurance was too expensive last time contacted them couple of years back.
Wish me luck😀

Feel free to give us a call for a quotation on 01455 639 000. All quotes include full UK & EU breakdown cover and all modifications considered. Plus there's a 15% premium discount for zroadster.org members too.

Well finally sorted out my insurance after about nearly 5 hours on the phone over the last two days (probably about 60% of it on hold), decided to reduce my annual mileage from 5k to 3k after looking at the mileages on my maintenance spreadsheet - last 9 years average 2296 miles.

Adrian Flux - £265 Agreed value. Excess £250 Windscreen Excess £100
ClassicLine - £268 Agreed value. Excess £150 Windscreen Excess £90
Chris Knott - £211 No Agreed value unfortunately Excess £300 Windscreen Excess £?
Hagerty (never tried them before now) - £509 Agreed value Excess £400 Windscreen Excess £?
Footman James. - £0 gave up after getting - "We will be with you shortly" + music for 15mins then line cut off!!! :(
Manning (been with them previously) didn't bother. My ear was getting sore from telephone calls.

So renewed with Adrian Flux for this year, little bit of hassle about agreed value paperwork (still got to resend AV forms in + photos)
However very close between AF and ClassicLine, pity Chris Knott couldn't come up with Agreed Value option. Be interesting see what happens next year.
Though it does show it's worth ringing round.

Thanks very much for giving us a try. Sorry that we were not your chosen insurer this year, but we'd love to speak with you again next year.

Update on our insurance. We went on CTM to confirm that our renewal was reasonable and got a cracking quote from the AA of just over £133 for the year including 12 months UK breakdown cover. We were going to take this out but a call from Adrian Flux this morning to ask if we were renewing resulted in them dropping their commission charge and getting us covered for £110 with £300excess and 5000 miles per year. All we need now is permission from the ruling class to actually go somewhere nice.

£375 multicar with Aviva last year Z3M and Z4 2.5 me & wife. Had a bump though so this year will be higher
