Insurance renewal.

My Z3 2.2 is insured by General Accident fully comp with NCB but not agreed value for £125.51. I am 72 next birthday and for me turning 70 made no difference to the premiums on my cars.

The comment about turning 70 was related to hiring cars in America. Have you got any modifications on your car?

Tony.

No Tony, as it came from the factory. I realise mods bump up the premium a bit. My MGB GT started life as a humble 1800, but is now a fuel injected 4 litre V8 with 5-speed 'box, fully independent suspension all round, large 4-wheel disc brakes, power steering, cruise control, etc. The insurer knows about all this but the premium is still sensible. It's a pretty fast car, faster acceleration than my 2.2 Z3 anyway.

Well I think that’s perfectly reasonable Tony especially at your age,=))
Went with Performance Direct last Aug and wrote list of all extras I wanted included. Even had to send them photo of car sitting in garage and garage doors locked with three locks. They told me that anything else I purchased during the ins period wouldn’t be covered unless they’ve been informed. With other ins comps not interested in the coupe at reasonable price I went with a known company that specialises in modded vehicle. £367 FC with only one stipulation that the car must be garaged when I’m at home overnight.I didn’t think that was an unreasonable clause and price given that the cheaper quotes were in the £280 region with some a lot higher and with no modifications whatsoever included. With full no claims and (clean licence since last year) they didn’t seem to be worried ( not like me:eek: ) about age.
I know a lot of you may think that’s a high price but with most ins-comps I’m worried that they’ll decide I’ve broken the contract by non disclosure of something they later decide would effect a claim. Says it all really with the same ins comps refusing to cover a lot of the flood victims.
Hope I’ve chosen wisely.:bored:

I think you pays your money and take your choice , and hope you don't need to battle it you need to make a claim

I turned 74 in December, rented a car to pick up my daughter at Dallas Airport, no problem. Texas must be a bit more reasonable than Florida.

Most likely because we're from the UK Tom? Also vacationers too?

Tony.
