Cool .. might get one then šŸ˜
I'm yet to test it on a run in terms of reception. Some reports tell me that you need a smaller 'stubby' aerial to replace the standard 'whippy' one, but as I say, in my driveway at least it works fine.

Just need to sort the shrinking blue from the dash!
Got a better car cover for it now too.

Do you unscrew the whippy before you put it on?

The only downsideā€¦but yes - lives in the boot when covered up šŸ˜„
If I end up getting a smaller stubby aerial then there should be room.

Thatā€™s strange. Sorry to hear that. Maybe I need to investigate my own wiring. Have you tried a shorter aerial?

Small update on the 2.2

Removed the CDV and the clutch feels a bit more predictable now. Not made a huge difference but enough to notice. Also added 20mm spacers to the rear wheels which have made the rear view more aesthetically pleasing.

Next up is some interior love: deep clean the leather, refresh the console andat some point swap ou the shrinking topaz blue leather dash for a plain black one. I also want to either fix or replace the door cards as theyā€™ve seen better days with broken trim / speaker lugs. In the future Iā€™ll look into a new roof.

Loving the pace, handling and noise though. Standard setup its just enough for most B road blasts and these 2.2ā€™s sound epic!

Hi there - looks like we have basically the exact same car (with some of the exact same issues!). I imagine they came out the factory at the same time. Had mine a couple of years now, had some servicing, a bit of paintwork and a brake overhaul. I also had the same 16" style 42 wheels as you but swapped them for the 17" style 42's (at GREAT expense once i had them refurbed, but they look the absolute mutts nuts). I have the same dash lift issue as you ... let me know how you resolve it or who you get to do the work. My local BMW specialist is practically begging me NOT to bring it to him to swap the dash out as he doesn't want the hassle, but don't see any other way to sort it. I'm nowhere near brave enough to tackle it myself :(

With the recent water ingress (mainly my fault by leaving the roof slightly open during two days of downpour), Iā€™d decided to get a new roof for the 2.2. The old one is not terrible, but there are areas around the back window where the trim has been previously fixed, and its starting to lift elsewhere. With new fabric over my lined roof frame, I think that may go some way is helping the overall and of course, will look great.

Called up and booked in for November with the much-recommended Jack Smith Trimmers in Swansea, so Iā€™ll either leave Kent very early doors that day (4+ hour drive), or travel up the night before and stay at a hotel.

As for the interior dash leather, going to be a summer project next year. Iā€™m planning to remove the dash completely and replace with a plain back one. My door cards also need some attention (unstuck aluminium trim pieces and missing fasteners), so Iā€™ll be concentrating on the interior then too - including seat removal, renovation, cleaning etc.

MOT is due early December and after getting wet last week, the engine light and scanned faults/misfire seem to have gone after clearing them and giving the car a decent run back to Suffolk this weekend. Carpets under the seats seem a lot less damp and I spent the weekend with heaters on full and switching between footwell and dash. Both heated seats I had on all the time too, so thats really help dry the car out, plus I have one of those Unibond dehumidifiers in the car which is now covered completely with both windows slightly open.

Also planning to replace both rear discs and pads, plus the oil level sensor as its starting to play up (typical issue of the oil light coming on but goes off after a few seconds after startup). Might replace the fuel tank breather valve too but want to scan the car again in a week or so to see if its still being flagged. Lastly Iā€™ll be getting a full service with new plugs.

Oh, and my recent Suffolk run ticked the car over to 74k miles šŸ‘šŸ¼
