So I have my own $&@;ing bolt situation...
One of the t27 bolts that holds the airbag. I've managed to damage the head and cannot get it out. It's normally a 2min job but this was tights and now a a bit 'rounded'z.
As you'll know it's also recessed, it's the one situated in the recess in this pic:

Any ideas of how to remove?
From reading one suggestion is to hammer a slightly larger Allen bit on and loosen that way.
Access is a bit of pain too...

I drilled mine out in the project car mate. Same thing happened.

I've knocked slightly bigger Torx bits into Allen screws before but not the other way round. I would try the next size Torx bit.

Tony.

As it happens I did one today in a wheel arch splash guard, it was easier access though, I used a small bladed flat screw driver bit, just jammed it in enough to move it, there are tool out there that are designed specifically for this problem, they bite in to rounded screws and such

Maybe try an Allen key if you've rounded the torx off, I thought it was a T30?

I did wonder Brian, I have to say that sizing Torx bits and fitting I don't find easy like hex bolts etc.

Tony.

ps. Some also have a "tamper proof" tit in the middle of the screw where you have to use a tamper proof key or bit (they have the centre drilled out)

Have to agree, at first thought it was a 25 but saw online a mention of t27. T27 worked fine to get the other one off.
I did wonder what the hole in the centre of the bit was, never heard of a 'tamper proof' tit before!

I had it off before with no issue..a bit of fun anyhow!

If its stripped and you have a spline bit set knock an m5 / m6 multi spline ( or whatever one closest ) done that a few times to get damaged torx bits out.

It's definately a T30 FYI

If you've got a T30 bit then it might be worth trying that first with a lot of force behind it before going mad with a drill :D

If you are using a drill place tape all down the drill leaving the last few mms exposed just in case the drill slips and damages the wheel. Don't let it get too hot so use some WD40 to cool it down. Use the other removed bolt as a guide on where to drill and how far down you need to go
