I have been lurking ion the background for the last few months but I am still here. In January I finally gave in and left my job after my whistle blowing led to three criminal convictions. My life had been blighted for three years and I grudgingly left with a modest settlement. My Plan was to take some time out and travel the UK in my zed reliving my longer days climbing in the lake District, North Wales and Scotland. Unfortunately having both the time and money to take time out for the first time in my life, everything shut on me due to covid. During Jan, Feb, March and April I was doing voluntary work but I ended up getting a job for 3 months with a local council which is due to end in a couple of weeks. The good news it has meant I have to commute in the zed five days a week. I have also replaced my car stereo with a new Blaupunkt Bremen, replaced a cam sensor a rear abs sensor and the little O ring on the power steering reservoir lid as it had a slight leak. I have an intermittent abs light problem, it comes on after about 10 miles and goes of within a minute or so when I restart. My code reader suggested rear abs sensor but it made no difference. It also suggests the pump. I think it could be the module on the side of the pump. My commute originally was 12 miles and the light would come on every day between 10 and 12 miles like clockwork. My commute at the moment is 9 miles and it has only come on once in a month and that was when I parked up with the engine running for 10 mins. My MOT has been put back to November thanks to covid so I have time to sort it out although as I can predict when it comes on it should get through as it is. The picture was a stop off on my commute at Ivinghoe Beacon. Its the nearest I have managed to get to a mountain so far this year =))

Hey Andy glad to hear you're ok mate. Boy this pandemic has scuppered many people's plans for sure. Keep well.

Tony.

I'm fine thanks, my plans have been delayed but in a strange way as I was volunteering until I started working at my present job the lockdown passed me by to a large extent. In fact driving to work during the lockdown was a dream. Empty roads are a lot more enjoyable

Good to hear you've settled Andy. Enjoy the commute in the Zed:thumbsup:

Hi Andy, had the same problems with my old Z3 and yes after taking the pump off and sending it off to ECU repairs they told me it was the soldering joints failing, got it back about 6/8 days later with lifetime guarantee. They test it first and inform you if there’s a fault and if they can fix it. They also do a swap one for one if they can to make turnaround quicker. I personally wanted mine back so secretly marked it and did get it back. Trying to find old paperwork for this but think it’s gone with the Z3. Hope this helps and if you’d like some company taking it out I’m only a stones throw away in Hemel and could pop over.
Look out for me in the car park on the Beacon part of my warm up run to keep The Beast going.

Thanks Roy I know two firms that mend the abs units. One of them will do it if I drive to them on the same day. I will take off my three abs sensors i haven't replaced and give them a clean first just in case that helps. I have read that the code readers aren't always 100% accurate on cars of this age. I am working in Tring at the moment for Dacorum council but get moved about quite a bit. My contract was due to end this week but they have offered me a more permanent position. Given the current state of the job market I have accepted the offer :) It means I am getting to drive the zed a lot more and don't have to start searching for a new job.

Glad to hear your still getting some Z use. Also pleased the job front is good for you too. Sounds like your Z will soon be fixed. I’ll keep an eye open for you when I’m out and about.
