So what’s this all about? Is Frankie leaving the forum? Is he about to check out?

For WEEKS I have been reading all the posts on this forum about the vote for staying or leaving the EU. It seems to me that the most antagonistic point of contention is that there are things that are being done which people feel are out of their control, and also cause them harm.

There are a multitude of reasons the forum members give for their opinions. While many may be valid, they all didn’t happen in the same instant. They slowly happened one by one. Same thing over here.

Let me give you a personal example.

My daughter, who is 29, is under my car insurance policy. I noticed that her premium had increased 35% over last year jumping from $946.00 to $1281.00. She is insured by the New Jersey Manufactures Insurance Company. I should note that, unlike most if not all the insurance companies in New Jersey, it is a co-operative. It was formed by several New Jersey businesses for their employees and is a non-profit organization. REMEMBER THIS. I called them to get an explanation for the rate hike. They said that there were many variables that go into determining the cost of a premium. This year, they decided to take into consideration the car itself. This car was purchased from the New Jersey Federal Credit Union of which my wife is a member. It had been in a small accident. It had been repossessed by the bank and put up for sale. They were required to make all repairs before selling it which they did. It was in very good working condition but the front bumper was scratched and I replaced this with a new one after it was purchased. My daughter has driven this car now for almost 5 years.

I went to the office of the insurance company to get a detailed explanation for the rate hike. In going over the differences between the 2 years of billing, noted all the differences. The amounts of coverage were identical. It should be noted at this point that this premium DOES NOT INCLUDE COLLISION, ONLY LIABILITY.

Things that had changed:

My daughter was one year older.

She completed another year (as in EVERY YEAR) with no accidents.

She had no violations or tickets in this year or ANY OTHER YEAR

She has DRIVEN THE SAME CAR FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS

Since she is under my policy, none of my or my wife’s circumstances had changed, ie, good driving record, no violations, good credit score etc…..

All of these points should have LOWERED her premium.

So it was then proven that the only thing that had changed was THEIR EVALUATION OF HER CAR.

Second example (and much shorter):

I was going to wait for full retirement age, 66, to go on Social Security. My foot doctor told me to apply for Social Security Medical Disability as I have a Charcot Foot (you REALLY DON’T WANT TO READ THIS….http://care.diabetesjournals.org/content/34/9/2123). He said I could lose my foot. Complicating this, a small part of the foot has been amputated, further weakening it. I first applied for a medical leave of absence. All my doctor’s reports had to be sent to my work first and after seeing this, they agreed for the leave. We must have workmen’s compensation from the state of New Jersey by law. I applied for it, sent them my medical records, and they accepted the claim right away. In the meantime, I applied for S.S. Disability, sent them all my doctor’s records, was examined by their doctors , and while most people apply and are denied and must re-apply, sometimes several times, my first application was accepted. I worked for the same place for most of 36 years. I paid for short term disability every week out of my pay LIKE CLOCKWORK. I applied for it and the insurance company, CIGNA, denied the claim. A second appeal was denied.

Where’s all this going ……………….

If we don’t study history, we are doomed to repeat it. These are examples of how we get pushed around. All around us, we see people getting things out of life for free. The cost of these things come from our hard work. While we may get many of the same things, we have to work hard all our lives for them. Others get the same benefits and DON’T WORK AT ALL.

This is what frightens me. It’s history all over again. During the 1920’s and 30’s, Europe with the rest of the world struggled. People were in deep financial trouble. Those of you that are my age well remember the stories of our parents struggling to survive. Hitler in Germany and Mussolini in Italy spoke of making things better and appealed to many people. When people are in trouble, they look for strong leadership to get them out of trouble. They are more than willing to listen to these people. When they were elected, they initiated many good programs to help their countries. Yet after they were elected, they became dictators. There were 55 million casualties as a result of WWll. No country is aware of this more that the Brits. Yet, in my youth, I went to Italy, and the older people kept telling me of all the good things Mussolini did. I couldn’t believe my ears. Were they blinded by the end of it all?

So here’s my fear. Donald Trump has the ear of many Americans. He has the ability of summing up the way many of us feel. He has put many of our frustrations into words that explain very well what is going on. I do not know him as well as some people do. But I believe I know him better than most Americans. He was my boss. I worked for him for more than four years. Most people who do not live in this small area of the country where I live, aren’t aware of what he’s done. When he was building the Trump TAJ MAHAL, he used many of the small contractors in this area of Atlantic County and the surrounding area. Many of these contracting jobs were large, for some of the contractors, they were the largest jobs they had ever done. They put everything they had into them, for some, their life savings for supplies and materials and wages. Uncle Donald didn’t pay them right away. In fact, he didn’t pay them at all. He declared bankruptcy when it suited him to do so, leaving all the small contractors hanging out to dry. Many of them went under. They lost everything. Trump wrote “The Art of the DEAL”. He doesn’t have to tell anyone around here what kind of deal he’s talking about. He stops at nothing to get his way, cutting you down if you’re in his way. He might appeal to enough people who don’t know him to get elected.

What damage would a man like this do to our country? And to the world?

With the feelings the way they are in the UK, could people be ready to follow what they think is a strong leader also?

No, I’m not leaving the forum, but I feel that I am going places at an increasingly accelerated rate. And I don’t think I want to go there. Unfortunately, you’re all going with me. Frankie

Interesting Frankie. A dangerous man is Mr Trump but a very good orator and very good at getting people into a frenzy. A chap in the 30's was outstanding at that and look how that ended up. It won't end up their if Trump gets in as the World is a differant place but I do fear the likes of him having his metophorical finger on the button. We reap what we sow, in particular sticking our noses in where it doesn't belong (middle east). Watch this space sadly :nailbiting:

One word, OIL!

Tony.

@FRANKIE - great article.... I said during the EU referendum that Trump winning would have a potentially bigger impact on the UK (and certainly the rest of the world) than whatever the vote was here. Let's hope common sense prevails

To bring it back to Z matters - wouldn't it be great to see what happened to that ridiculous hair if you offered him a quick 100mph blast down a highway in your Z3. Surely it'd be impossible to electable him after that....? You know what you have to do!

Never again....shalom aleichem

The world holds its breathe and hopes that people don't just listen to what Trump says but works out why he is saying it. He isn't wanting to do anything good - he is solely in pursuit of power for the power alone. He pampers to the lowest common denominator which is fear. The risk is that the worlds greatest power will become quickly isolated if Trump wins because no-one will listen to a bully who will say anything to get liked and who stamps his feet and threatens when he isn't.
Many people in the UK now feel conned by massive promises that were very quickly withdrawn after the ballot closed. It's the USAs turn next.
If he does get elected you will, I expect, see him unmasked as a charlatan that he seems to be. People will then be quickly searching for more Watergate tapes......before real damage is caused.

All evil needs is for good men to do nothing. Live by it.
