Black Friday deal. Some non deals about but think this was a good one?
Just ordered 6 new Bosch ignition coils from car parts 4 less
Total cost £100.57 for 6, Not sure why i had to pay £1.99 for the privilege of picking the parts up my self instead of delivery?
Hopefully this will cure the intermittent mis fire in third but at its age and mileage think their about due.

That's a lot to pay on a "this might cure it".

I assume you have a scanner of some kind. Any faults shown? I'd suspect sparkplugs before coils. Swapping the coilpacks and swapping the plugs should highlight the dodgy one.

Nothing showing on code reader, its a strange one only seems to do it in Third as you pull away in slower speeds, no more than car should and used to cope with. Spark plugs have been changed car has 118k miles on it and coming up to 19 years old as the cars a keeper thought it was worth the money cure or not.

I'd check what the knock sensor is saying and what the ignition timing is doing. In an old car, that would have been a pinking situation.

Does your scanner give you numbers and the facility to record data, or is it just "Good"/"Bad"?

Only gives good or bad, does give fault and part number for replacement parts if required. The car runs very well other than this 3rd gear blip

New coils fitted, time will tell but on a first run out pulls like a train in third like it used too with no hesitation.
Happy to have new coils on although they may not have been needed.
On replacing No5, Coil not as securely attached to the plug as the others so could this have been the problem?
Will hang on to the original coils if anyone wants them?
