Hi guys,

And yes I used the search feature.

I have the dreaded periodic abs/asc warning lights. Started after the engine was pressure washed so I want to unplug the module (not open it get) and clean up the connectors. How does that blasted connector come off. I don't want to break it. Everything I have looked shows the module disconnected but I have no idea how to do that. Feeling dumb because I am pretty handy but with 22 year old plastic one can't be too careful.

Not sure I'd pressure wash an engine to be honest. It's not unusual however to get water in the wheel speed sensors and to have this problem. It goes away by itself after a couple of days/decent drive.

The ABS module just has 4 bolts holding it on to the pump. They are male torx head from memory.

Thanks for the reply. I dont want to remove the module just the harness plug.

I recon there are more chances it's the wheel speed sensors i've had it before - if you have a fault code reader that would be my way to go, just check the codes see what they say - will save you a lot of headaches taking apart things unnecessarily

The connector can appear awkward looking. It basically pulls up but can get a bit engrained with dirt. It just needs persistence.

IPNA says its a pump fault. Sometimes running the abs simulation works and the fault clears. Sometimes the sim does not work and then a day or two later the light goes off and all is well.

The connector has a kind of grey thing around it that looks like it is supposed to slide off. Looks like some kind of connector lock.

Are you suggesting that of I just grab the plug and wiggle and pull up it should come out?

There is an slider around the connector itself. The slider pulls out and the connection is pushed out of the hydraulic part of the assembly. It's the same sort of connector as on the radio and back of the instrument panel.

It can appear impossible looking to deal with. Then when it's apart you look at it and think ah right.

So the slider needs to levered off by lifting the edges with a flat blade?

I started to do that and a bit broke off so I stopped. Or does it slide up itself.

I have had the radio out a few times and that was pretty easy.
