Looks a bit like a Nissan i've seen round these parts...

.....and therein is my reason for preferring the Z3 over the Z4.

Ultimately it's down to personal taste and I guess I could be swayed towards a Z4 if I was pushing round an ageing 1.9 Z3 but as i'm running an 02 3.oi with low mileage and love the retro looks even the black beauty in your link doesn't quite do it for me. Nice motors but lacking character.

I find the Z4 more of a buisness type car rather than a sports car, but they are nice looking #:-s

I think the latest Z4 Paul is alot different from the old model. :ymsmug:

Tim.

Yes, it's a lot heavier!

I find it a real shame though that 6cyl engines are dissapearing in the newer models :(
Tim.

Agree with you there Tim, a real shame. I've had a few beemers, and they have all been 6 cyl. It's also a shame that the normally aspirated engines in the M models will disappear :(

I guess that's "progress", although I'm not sure it's progress from a driving pleasure standpoint.. :-\

Have to agree with the slag :D/ Old Z4 in the roadster version doesn't do it for me as it has a very inelegant roof line compared to the sexy curves of the Z3 . However the old and new Z4 coupes both look fab. Not sure about the interiors though. I did drive the 2.5i old Z4 roadster and had to say it handled really well but I really couldn't take to the styling. My S54 Z3 ///M is simply stunning though and there would have to be an absolutely amazing car available to make me change it any time soon or ever. ;)

The 2.0 E85 comes in at 1295kg, can't find a figure for the 2.0 E89 however the 3.5 weighs 1470kg so the 2.0 will weigh a little less. The aluminium roof doesn't weigh much more than the old fabric roof, I think it might be 3lbs which is pretty good.

thats the one thing that really jumps out at me about the 4....i just dont like the interiors...to clinical....i know the old 4s have all the sharp lines..so it stands to reason the the interior should have it.....just..you know :-??
having said that......if someone wanted to gift me one....i'd make room.

I much prefer the Z3 interior to the MK1 Z4 however the latest Z4 is superb, its a very nice place to sit :steer2)

thats what i was referring to Tim....it had to match the sharp lines....the new one on the other hand...very nice.
having said that i think from the start of the 4s the lines have been getting softer with every version...its going to end up looking like a 3 :))

Is it actually possible to compare the Z3 to the Z4 E85? There aren't really any shared components, and they are completely different cars. Which is I guess the point of my original post, I adore them both equally for what they are

The only thing the cars share is the Driver :coolsteer) :steer2)
