You're temporarily hotter that us here in New Jersey......BUT.....not for long. We're in the upper 90's now but it will be hotter over the next few days. I pity you over there as they said on the news that only about 1% of households have air conditioning, and that houses are built to hold in the heat. Get your old kiddie pool out of the attic or basement, put it in the shade and fill it up. Then make a pitcher of ice tea,( no hard stuff 'cause it's too hot). Don't be too harsh when the wife gets into a bathing suite. Not the temp. to get someone angry. If possible, invite the neighbors.......................Frankie PS. Keep me posted on the temps. And Uncle Donald used to say there was no global warming. Can't see him getting re-elected...........hmmmmmm...................

Cooler today - thank goodness.

Working from home, so the box room is the office. Temp indoors yesterday 31C and no breeze, hotter outside, unheard of for Northern England (West Yorkshire).

Chatting to Herself this morning - humans are funny animals, we have a really narrow 'Goldilocks Zone' of temperatures we like, anything outside that and we suffer . . .

The temp gauge on my Zed said it was 40.5 on the way home yesterday (I doubt it’s accurate) but is was for a moment considering pulling over and putting the roof up. Of course I didn’t because it’s only up when it’s raining 😂

I’m ok with the heat, just feel sorry for those who can’t cope as well with it. My parents were really feeling it. Still, be raining soon and then the snow will start so back to normal really 👍

25c over here today, big improvement compared to yesterday at 32c !

Actually, that's what I heard your temp was on the news. 104 degrees Fahrenheit. (40 C.).

Stupid me!!! I was looking at the time and converted it on a chart and thought "That's not really bad".. Then it occurred to me you wouldn't be complaining if that was the temp., so I took another look......................Frankie

Riding my motorbike home in full kit yesterday made for a "warm" ride home. Stopped at a red 3-way traffic light and actually thought I was going to combust 🥵 🔥:hellsangels:

Highest temp inthe UK was Conningsby Lincs. at 40.5 Recorded at the RAF base.
The sky is looking very dark and threatening but no rain as yet, probably waiting till I go for a couple of pints with my old mate Ken this evening.

Tony.

Sleeping with bedroom temperature of 28C proved impossible last night. Ended up hanging out of kitchen window at 3am until I had cooled down a bit. Hopefully better tonight.

Get a large bath towel (preferably a well worn one). Soak and wring as much of the water out that you can, then use it as a blanket. Don't lie on top of it, you will just get a wet bed.

My cousin in Oz emailed me to make sure I ( and the family) were ok as he had seen that the UK had bush fires…… In Oz is raining and they have floods…. Bit of a change around !!!!

'twas a bit warm here at Mint Towers yesterday, it's been just over half that today:whistle: (38.6 deg C is 101.48 deg F, for you boys over the pond);)

Lots of ROFLs...

It's called "evaporative cooling". It's most effective when the weather is hot and dry.

It was hot for a day ! Back to the normal UK summer today, cool , dull and wet , panic over !
I hope that the media are going to apologise for the unnecessary worry they have caused many vulnerable people. Perspective has been sadly lacking recently. :(

You had better tell the Met Office. They think the hottest was only 40°C.

I've been in a real 51°C and it was "difficult". Air-con just makes life more difficult when you have to go out in the real world. Keeping the body cool was the easy bit, the hardest bit was breathing.

Yep, I have to agree, having worked in Libya out in the desert on the oil and gas drilling rigs.
